Course Descriptions

MOD501 Moda Tasarımı 1 (Fashion Design I) (4 credits) After agreeing on a basic theme/concept;

students are acquired to prepare their own collections with the basic knowledge and principles of designing methods and personal creative skills. Studentswork on their own collections, from their conceptions to the completions, with the support of Professional staff at our fashion studios. (This course is given in Turkish.)

MOD511 Desen Tasarımı (3 credits) (Pattern design) Students prepare panel oral over printing design collections to meet the needs of the fashion industry in accordance with the present printing technology.

The original pattern designs are applied for production and printing at our printing studio with the support of computer-aided design programs (Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop) (This course is given in Turkish.)

MOD502 Moda Tasarımı II (Fashion Design II) (4 credits) After agreeing on a basictheme/concept;

studentsareacquiredtopreparetheirowncollectionswiththebasicknowledge

ofdesigningmethodsandpersonalcreativeskills. Studentswork on allstages of theirowncollections, fromtheconceptionstothecompletions, withthesupport of Professional staff at a fashionstudio. (This course is given in Turkish.) Prerequisite: MOD501.

ELECTIVES

MOD534 Moda Satın Alma Sistemi (Fashion Purchasing System) (3 credits) This course is designed to evaluate 21th century state of art purchasing techniques and supply chain management constituents, which are product management, production planning, and supply chain system design in textile sector.

Through chapters, readings, and case analyses, we will focus on key factors and strategies in purchasing, as well as, social and cultural relationships in supply chain and the behavior of suppliers in different geographic and cultural regions. During the lectures, students will be exposed to the subject by means of text, lecture, discussion, and use of audio/visual resources. (This course is given in Turkish.)

RES131 Araştırma Yönetimleri (Research Management)(2 credits) Within the scope of the course, it is aimed to bring an understanding about research design and steps, different research methods and how to write research proposal around the question of “why do we need research methodology for fashion design. (Thiscourse is given in Turkish.)

MOD531 Moda Akımları Kurgulama (Manipulating Fashion Trends) (3 credits) Theoretical knowledge about historical fashion trends are explained with demonstrations of the current or past fashion trends. A researchproject is prepared about trend-setting.The project is concluded with the presentation of there search and practices. (Thiscourse is given in Turkish.)

MOD532 Marka Yönetimi (Brand Management) (3 credits) Our students recognize the brand management related to fashion industry, product identification for the target audience and creating strategic planning. They learn about the issues such as making a profit, a fashion brand of the enterprise, fashion industry relations, business formation of money and making the definition of sustainability. (This course is given in Turkish)

MOD530 Moda Pazarlama (Fashion Marketing) (2 credits) Students get the idea of creativity and strategy with in the framework of fashion awareness. They analyze thebasicelements as the marketing strategy, brand identity and positioning. They get the theoretical understanding of visual awareness in the field, marketing theory, market and trend research, branding, consumer and target mass communication with the examples of existingmodels. (This course is given in Turkish)

MOD536 Moda Yazarlığı (Fashion Writer) (2 credits) This course aim stomakestudents Express themselves by published and online media in the fashion sector. Students can create a personal fashion style of writing; can improve their written skills on fashion features in magazines and newspapers, fashion relatedreports on television aswell as online fashion magazines, websites and blogs. With this course students can interpret fashion trends and collections ; can write or edit articles; can create intellectual tweets and a blog with self-followers ; can getawareness of Turkish and international fashion authors such as Sibel Arna, Melis Alphan, Anna Piaggi, SuziMenkes. (This course is given in Turkish.) MOD538 İnovatif Tekstiller (Innovative Textiles) (4 credits) The aim of this course is to promote the awareness of our students in therapidly growing fashion industry on technical, smart, highly innovative textiles.Our students can imagine night dresses changing color according to room temperature; jackets awakening the driver who is going to sleep; sports attire listening to the heart beats of the wearer. They can combine the creative thinking with the performance; can improve the environmental awareness and comprehend the importance of life long learning and research. (This course is given in Turkish.)

• Art and science of food preparation, serving and eating.

• Science and art of good eating including culinary traditions and customs of certain regions and countries.

• The harmony of on taste and pleasure purposes, such as appetite, trial and error, historical knowledge, culture, habits, ability, effort, attention and love.

Objectives

Students in the program examine the role of food in historical and contemporary societies from a variety of perspectives. The program aims to adopt an interdisciplinary approach that makes it mandatory to train professionals in this area. Graduate students should have sense of a wide range of artistic, cultural and technological transformation of the link between gastronomy and scientific openness. It is expected that graduate students can make sense of food culture, society, eating and drink sector to import an enlightening role installed. The program gives opportunity to educate young scientist who are able to use new technologies and have an idea of gastronomy in the academic field.Gastronomy sector is the sector where labor is heavily used. It stimulates many sub-sectors which highly provides added value. So, gastronomy sector is one of the leading sectors providing the revival of the economy.

The program consists of three periods. Students must take 6 compulsory and 2 selective courses and prepare non-credits master’s thesis.Studentsmust complete24creditssuccessfully and finish their master’s thesis. There is no compulsory internship for students.
