About Program

Business Administration is a branch of science tackling business issues including the effective, profitable and efficient ways of managing private and public sector institutions while adapting to the changing environmental conditions. Management education should be compatible with the latest trends and innovations and should follow the markets closely since it targets the constantly changing and innovative business word. Some subjects are gaining a special importance in this branch.

Business Administration education is gradually getting more international. The number of companies operating in the international arena is increasing in today's global world markets. Giving the necessary information and ability to communicate and do business with people from different cultures naturally has become one of the basic aims of management education.

Our graduates possibly will be employed as "Managers" but may also receive titles such as "Director, Assistant Director, and Expert" according to the sectors they work in.

Objectives

The graduate programme in Business Administration aims to enable students to gain relevant knowledge about their profession and improve their analytical thinking and leadership skills so as to play an active role in the management.

The program offers two alternatives for its satisfactory completion:

With Thesis: The total credits required for the satisfactory completion of the curriculum are 24 credits.

The program additionally requires a master thesis to be successfully completed.

Without Thesis: The total credits required for the satisfactory completion of the curriculum are 30 credits. The program additionally requires a graduation project to be successful completed.

Course Descriptions

EMBA511 Financial Accounting (3 credits) The objective of the course is exploring the importance of using financial accounting data in decision-making. Students are introduced to the importance of such data to decision-making by discussing the principles and basic applications of financial accounting.

EMBA513 Marketing Management (3 credits) The aim of this course is to explain students the fundamental principles and concepts of marketing management. Upon successful completion of this class, students will have knowledge of strategic planning and developing marketing strategy, analyzing the environment and managing market information, understanding consumer and business markets, developing customer driven marketing strategy, delivering value by product development, pricing, distribution, and promotion strategies, creating competitive advantage and implementing global marketing tools.

EMBA515 Management & Organization (3 credits) The objective of this course is to define the terms Management and Organizational Behavior relate to a considerable breadth and depth of topics relative to both the business world and the construction management industry. We often hear terms such as change agent, accountability, ethical conduct, paradigm shift, team building, culture and a plethora of others. The terms may seem strange in the macho world of construction however; an appreciation for these concepts is crucial to becoming a successful construction manager. This course will seek to enhance your understanding of management principles and organizational behavior theories and their relationship to the construction management profession.

EMBA517 Business Economics (3 credits) The purpose of this course is to cover the micro aspects of the economic analysis from the perspective of the business units. The individual consumer behavior and the firm specific decision making processes are going to be discussed by focusing on the market structure that these two sides integrate in.

EMBA521 Corporate Financial Management (3 credits) The objective of this course is to introduce the students to the specifics of financial management.These include the in-depth analysis of capital budgeting with regard to capital investment decisions and project evaluation. The emphasis, then, shifts to the basic lessons derived from the capital market history: the risk premium and the variability of returns.

A careful treatment of the systematic and unsystematic components of the risk will be followed by one of the most important concepts in financial management: Security Market Line. These are to analyze the subtle relationship among the concepts of required rate of return, discount rate and cost of capital. Then the scrutiny of weighted average cost capital is to provide a powerful insight concerning that the subjectivity on the exogenous determination of discount rates or required rate of returns are no more needed. Finally the course concludes with the financing decisions of long-term investments such as how to raise capital and how to handle financial structure and capital structure policies.

EMBA523 Human Resource Management (3 credits) This course is designed to prepare MBA students to be managers for the increasingly competitive business world. The students will be able to identify human resource management and explain how HRM contributes to an organization's performance and also recognize the importance of human resource management functions which will help create a more value-added and competitive position to the organizations.

EMBA525 Statistical Analysis & Decision Making (3 credits) The purpose of this course is to know the general aspects of quantitative analysis In this course, research methods, The quantitative analysis approach, regression models, forecasting, linear programming, goal programming, decision analysis, game theory will be explained in details.

EMBA531 Strategic Management (3 credits) The objective of this course is to introduce the key concepts, tools, and principles of strategy formulation and competitive analysis. It is concerned with managerial decisions and actions that affect the performance and survival of business enterprises. The course is focused on the information, analyses, organizational processes, and skills and business judgment managers must use to devise strategies, position their businesses, define firm boundaries and maximize long-term profits in the face of uncertainty and competition. Strategic Management is an integrative and interdisciplinary course. It assumes a broad view of the environment that includes buyers, suppliers, competitors, technology, the economy, capital markets, government, and global forces and views the external environment as dynamic and characterized by uncertainty. In studying strategy, the course draws together and builds on all the ideas, concepts, and theories from your functional courses such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, and Statistics.

ELECTIVES

EMBA563 Global Marketing Management (3 credits) The aim of this course is to introduce students the basic principles of marketing in global merit. Students will learn about the important marketing concepts, marketing research and marketing mix. Students will become familiar with the factors that influence decisions on entry into international markets and with the different entry forms. Participants will also obtain information about the selection of target markets and positioning in the international environment.

EMBA575 Organizational Change Management (3 credits) The objective of this course is to provide skills you will need as a future manager or leader to identify the necessity for change and ensure its successful implementation. Its hands-on approach includes a number of 'change tools' that you can apply to various change scenarios, exercises which invite you to reflect on your experience of change in everyday life, and a host of case studies and examples based on real-life organizations worldwide. These practical features are underpinned by a theoretical framework presenting change as a flexible yet controlled sequence of activities.

EMBA547 Banking Risk Management (3 credits)The objective of this course is to analyze day-to-day risks in banking and how to manage those risks in question. In this respect, several risk management concepts known across the global banking environment will be thoroughly covered. This will be supported with current “Risk Management” models applied by some banks along with in-depth analysis.
