About Program

Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation is the science covering a large and diverse category of subjects which include orthopedic rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation, sports health, oncologic rehabilitation, prosthetic and orthotic rehabilitation as well as exercise applications for children, youth and adults. Modern technological and scientific developments promote the principle of lifelong learning in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation discipline and make imperative for the physiotherapists to constantly increase their knowledge in specific topics relating to assessment and therapy techniques in their professional areas and apply their improved competences in their daily practice. The primary aims of physiotherapy and rehabilitation consist of stopping pain, increasing mobility and improving the quality of life. With these objectives in mind, the Master’s graduate program for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation targets the education of expert physiotherapists who are enabled to apply rehabilitation techniques based on scientific principles and use the indicated physical, psychological, social, environmental and community-based approaches. The Master’s program for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation comprises courses covering general and specific physiotherapy and rehabilitation fields.

Objectives

The aim of this program is to raise up physiotherapists who have knowledge and skills of planning and applying the activities for health prevention, maintenance, promotion for individual, family and community, and in case of health problems, planning and conducting the appropriate physiotherapy modalities with the needs of individual; who adopted life-long learning principles; who are recognized nationally and internationally and professionally competent to practice and research.

The total credits required for the satisfactory completion of the curriculum are 25 credits.

FTR500 Fizyoterapi ve Rehabilitasyonda Değerlendirme (The Basis Measurement and Evaluation in Physiotherapy) (3 credits) The purpose of this course; providing students to determinate, prevent and treat movement and functional disorders, and to gain enough physiotherapy and rehabilitation knowledge, ability and skills to increase the health related quality of life; to over see public goodness; to bring upgraduates who have ability to research, investigate and life long learning skills with evidence based practices. All graduates take a career role as a health professional life and work academically after graduation according to their expectancy. (This course is given in Turkish)

FTR501 Seminer (Seminar) (0 credits) The purpose of this course; to consoli date the original information of the current literature on physical therapy and rehabilitation concerning the selected subject, to survey the evidence based study related to physical therapy and rehabilitation, analyze the current literature information related to physical therapy and rehabilitation. FTR502 Hareket Analizi ve Değerlendirme (Movement Analysis and Assessment) (3 credits) The purpose of this course; to motion analysis in healthy and pathological conditions, kinetic and kinematic analysis, body tissues, kinesiology of the joints and pathologies of the musculoskeletal system. FTR503 İleri Egzersiz Fizyolojisi (Advanced Exercise Physiology) (3 credits) The purpose of this course; comprehensively review the effects of acute and chronic exercise on cardiovascular, pulmonary and musculoskeletal systems, muscular strength and body composition. (This course is given in Turkish)

FTR512 Biyoistatistik ve Karar Verme (Advanced Therapeutic Exercises) (4 credits) The purpose of this course; providing assessment and improving programmes, purposes, effects and principles of exercise treatment, classification of exercise and planning exercises programmes, planning and application of exercises programmes, while determining the problems in normal range of motion, teaching to plan exercise programmes and application in different postural problems. FTR504 Geriatrik Rehabilitasyon (Geriatric Rehabilitation) (3 credits) The purpose of this course; to provide general clinical characteristics of geriatric, general knowledge of physiological changes in aging, functional assessment methods, application of clinical decision period, project and case studies. FTR505 Muskuloskeletal Rehabilitasyon (Rehabilitation in Musculoskeletal System) (3 credits) The purpose of this course; to define the musculo skeletal system function, to summarize the anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system, the musculoskeletal system pathologies, to list musculoskeletal system occurrences, to define physiotherapy approaches for thetreatment of the spine and pelvis, to debate musculoskeletal physiotherapy approaches. FTR507 Serebrovasküler Hastalıklarda Fizyoterapi ve Rehabilitasyon (Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in Cerebrovasculer Diseases) (4 credits) The purpose of this course; providing students to express the clinical features and reasons of movement and function impairments after stroke, provide the understanding and practicing of the basic features related to neurophysiological approaches, measurements and assessments in stroke rehabilitation and develop the problem solving mechanism in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation after stroke. FTR508 Fizyoterapide Araştırma Yöntemleri (Research Methods in Physiotherapy) (3 credits) The purpose of this course; to criticize and interpret the articles to analyze and discuss the articles, to determine project/research subjects, to follow the literatüre, to create a hypothesis. (This course is given in Turkish)

FTR509 Mobilizasyon ve Manipulasyon Yöntemleri (Mobilization and Manipulation Methods) (3 credits) This purpose of this course; to introduced the conditions which produce pain, inflammation and limited motion in joints and soft tissue structures; to provide acknowledgement of basic evaluation methods; to acquired skill of basic mobilization and manipulation application techniques for the treatment of these conditions. FTR510 Nörolojik Rehabilitasyon (Neurological Rehabilitation) (3 credits) The purpose of this course; providing general clinical characteristics of neurological diseases. Moreover, the lecturer aims to comprehend the basic and neurophysiologic based assessments in evaluation of neurologic cases. During the lectures, students will be able to describe the effects of neurologic impairment on function, activity and participation and planning the treatment program for the neurological diseases. At the end of the term, students will be able to plan and apply the neurophysiologic based treatment program. (This course is given in Turkish)

FTR511 Romatolojik Rehabilitasyon (Rheumatic Diseases and Rehabilitation) (3 credits) This lecture’s objective; the classifications, definitions, effects on musculoskeletal system, assessment methods of rheumatic disease, and convenient physiotherapy and rehabilitation approaches in rheumatic disease will be investigated.(This course is given in Turkish)

FTR513 Pediatrik Rehabilitasyon (Pediatric Rehabilitation) (3 credits) The purpose of this course; to define normal growth and development, definition and classification of cerebralpalsy, assessment of child with cerebralpalsy, neurophysiological treatment approaches for cerebralpalsy, assesment methods for pediatric rehabilitation, basic principals of pediatric rehabilitation, down syndrome, mental retardation, muscular dystrophies, epilepsia and rehabilitation, psychological problems of pediatricpatients.
