E- BNK565 Bankalarda Operasyonel Yönetim (Operational Management in Banking) (3 credits) The course aims to introduce students overview of general evolution and general information about

operational transactions in financial sector about the modern structure and the vehicles on the role of the banks. In this respect the attendees will be informed about the functions of banks and their services;

review the bank operation products, understanding their impacts on financial statements of a bank as well as seeing the impacts of corporate governance on day-to-day operations. By this approach, they will be capable of understanding the banking operations and respective products. (This course is given in Turkish)

About Program

The program includes fundamental courses related to the functioning of financial markets, principles of banking, law and accounting in fall semester. In spring semester, the program aspires to bring students in formation on banking with courses such as financial analysis, risk management and fund management.

The program lasts 3 semesters that consists of 10 courses of which 7 are compulsory and 3 are electives.

Objectives

The program aims to provide fundamental professional knowledge in banking sector to candidates who work or willing to work in the banking sector, develop their professional experience in risk management, fund management and portfolio management and upskill them in customer relationship management.The program offers two alternatives for its satisfactory completion:

With Thesis: The total credits required for the satisfactory completion of the curriculum are 24 credits.

The program additionally requires a master thesis to be successfully completed.

Without Thesis: The total credits required for the satisfactory completion of the curriculum are 30 credits. The program additionally requires a graduation project to be successful completed.

BANK511 Bankacılığa Giriş ve Temel Bankacılık Bilgileri (Introduction to Banking and Fundamentals of Banking) (3 credits) The objective of this course is to introduce the basics of the money and the banking in a thorough economic sense. Defining the money in economists' perspective and determination of interest rates are among the vital parts of this lecture. The next step is to introduce the basics of banking. The evolution of bank management and recent changes will be emphasized in terms of credit and interest-rate risk management perspectives. Finally, the course concludes with the thorough treatment of goals of a central bank and its balance sheet, the money supply process, the determination of interbank rate in the Market for Reserves and tools of monetary. BANK513 Finansal Piyasalar ve Kurumlar (Financial Markets and Institutions) (3 credits) The objective of this course is to introduce the basics of financial markets and institutions. The mechanics of bond and stock markets are thoroughly analyzed. The specifics of financial crisis are undertaken in accordance with the asymmetric information problems in the financial markets. The remaining part of the course covers the Money Markets, the Mortgage Markets, the Mutual Funds and the Investment Banking along with a special emphasis on the 2007-2009 Financial Crisis. BANK515 Bankacılıkta Organizasyon Yönetimi ve Yönetişim Teknikleri (Organization Management and Governance Techniques in Banking) (3 credits) In this lecture, the methods of Corporate Governance in Banking from the perspective of the evolution steps of Organizational Management from primitive stage to modern management models are taught.During the course the day-to-day organization management in details and discussing the roles, powers and responsibilities of the line management against the aim of success and profitability are analysed. BANK517 Risk Yönetimi (Risk Management) (3 credits) This lecture addresses types of inherent risks of the banks as well as possible future risks that they may come across. Discussions lead students to understand the concept of risk and risk approaches for mitigation of them. For this purpose, the newly implementing risk management systems in Turkey are analyzed, understanding the needs for them as well as explaining the reasons of the relevant applications. During the course, we will perform case studies on the Risk Management modals of Turkish banks. To elaborate the discussions, there will be a film which is describing a catastrophic collapse of a bank due to mismanagement of risks. (This course is given in Turkish)

E-BNK521 Bankalarda Aktif Pasif Yönetimi (Asset - Liability Management in Banking) (3 credits) In this course, we are analyzing the methods of Asset and Liability Management in a bank, its importance and its place in the strategic management decisions on the relationship of P&L items vs the balance sheet accounts. Also, the impacts of off-balance sheet items, their risks and respective hedging techniques applied towards interest rate and foreign exchange risks are revised by real case studies. BANK523 Mali Analiz Yöntemlerive Kredilendirme Teknikleri (3 credits)(Financial Analysis Methods and Credit Rating Techniques) Beside of studying significance of fiscal analysis, credit allocation and credit surveillance processes, this course has aimed examining related methods and technics within scope of banking applications. Including titles; description and goal of fiscal analysis,

credit and risk concepts, credit and risk concepts, credit risk specification, credit configuration, credit surveillance, identification and management of problematic credits. (This course is given in Turkish) BANK525 Bankacılık Hukuku (Banking Law) (3 credits) Being a financial institution banks and regulations which affects banking operations and in particular scope and practices of base law, “Banking Act” with 5411 number which regulate banking activities have all been examined in this course. Content titles; regulations within banking law content, laws, decree laws, regulations and notifications, regulations regarding to organizational structure of banking sector, regulations concern with bank foundation, management and working order, regulations regarding to bank activities and bank auditing. ELECTIVES

BANK527 Banka Muhasebesi (Bank Accounting) (3 credits) Bank Accounting has departed from General Accounting in many ways. Hence, there have been various accounts which they need to be interpreted in Balance Sheet and Income Statement. During lectures, used by banks widely, structure and basic principles of “Uniform Chart of Accounts” have been explained and made enable getting information about bank accounting niceties together with doing exercise about accounting of banking products. BANK531 Bankalarda Müşteri İlişkileri Yönetimi (Customer Relationship Management in Banking) (3 credits) In this course regard of customer relation in success of a bank has been explained.

Subjects about how good-humored bank staffs should behave to customers and how qualified and customer focused they should serve and furthermore how factors which prevent qualified services should be eliminated have all been studied. In order to make all realize, parts of management and which capabilities bank managers have to have about leadership and motivation have been studied. During lectures survey and case studies, statistical researches and various sample cases have also been analyzed.

BANK533 Uluslararası Finansman Teknikleri (International Financing Techniques) (3 credits) The aim of this course is to enable students to have theoretical knowledge about international finance methods and to make economic inferences by using this theoretical knowledge on foreign trade and investment analysis. International financial system, alternative financing types, capital markets, forward transactions, futures and option exchanges are the subjects explained parallel to foreign trade and investment processes.
