HEM551 İç Hastalıkları Hemşireliği I (Medical Nursing I) (3 credits) The aim of this course is to train professional nurses, who has theoretical and practical knowledge about internal medicine nursing based on individual, family and society, uses nursing process with a holistic and systematic approach, performs preventive health care practices, performs training and consulting nursing roles, uses

Nursing. It will help students to appreciate the patient as a holistic individual and develop skill to function as a Specialized Medical Nurse. It will further enable the student to function as educator, manager and researcher in the field of Medical Nursing. During the lectures, students will be taking on leadership responsibilities and work with other people in teams while developing their oral communication abilities and presentation skills. HEM553 Cerrahi Hastalıkları Hemşireliği I (Surgical Disease Nursing I) (3 credits) The purpose of this course are to provide the knowledge necessary to move from the role of a graduate nurse to that of a post-graduate nurse. The focus is directed toward the legal, ethical and professional responsibilities of the surgical nurse in managerial and coordinating roles. (This course is given in Turkish)

HEM555 Doğum ve Kadın Hastalıkları Hemşireliği I (Obstetric and Gynecologic Nursing I) (3 credits) The aims of this course are designed for students to appreciate the concepts and principles of obstetrical nursing and help reacquired knowledge and develop attitude and beginning skills in rendering nursing care to normal and high risk pregnant women during antenatal, natal and postnatal periods in hospital and community settings. It also helps to develop skills in managing normal and high risk neonate.

HEM557 Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Hemşireliği I (Child Health Nursing I) (3 credits) The purposes of this course are to introduce the student to appropriate scientific knowledge which enables them to develop their own unique clinical and educational approach to care of children and their families.

This course moves from simple to complex issues; starting with concepts of normal growth and development, health promotion and maintenance, and the prevention of illnesses and accidents and then to selected health problems (chronic and common health problems, and communicable diseases). This is achieved through utilizing the nursing process, developmental theories, new trends and the latest approaches in the management and caring of children. The course encourages students to utilize knowledge synthesis, problem solving techniques, critical thinking, and family centered approached in the provision of empowered care. HEM559 Psikiyatri Hastalıkları Hemşireliği I (Psychiatric Nursing I) (3 credits) The purpose of this course is to provide the knowledge necessary to move from the role of a student to that of a graduate nurse. The focus is directed toward the professional responsibilities of the psychiatric and mental health nurse in mental health caring and leadership roles. (This course is given in Turkish)
