Kadıköy-Kartal Subway Ayrılıkçeşmesi Station Procurement Construction

Ayrılık Çeşmesi Station of which construction was completed in the scope of the project “Kadıköy-Kartal Subway Ayrılıkçeşmesi Station Procurement Construction” is the second station of Kadıköy-Kartal Subway Line after Kadıköy Station and it is the integration point of Marmaray Line.

All rough construction, fine work and electromechanical works of the station were completed on 29 October 2013 and it was commissioned for operation with passengers along with Marmaray Line. In the scope of this work, following activities were performed;

 Fine works of stair tunnels,

 Production and fine works of the tunnel that connects two structures at the station and of which location is defined in the architectural project,

 Production of rough and fine construction works of station concourse and technical volume structure,

 Production of upper concourse bridge deck of Marmaray Ayrılık Çeşmesi Station,

 Production of rough and fine construction works of level crossing platform of Marmaray Ayrılık Çeşmesi Station.

It is the largest and most integrated station of the Subway system in the project. A perron floor is included in the concourse structure to be constructed as cut-and-cover, and it is planned to be a common station for light rail system and subway. Besides, the passenger integration with Marmaray station is available. A car park for 482 vehicles is planned to be established next to it.

Total construction site (station and car park) is approximately 59.000 m². The structure of the station was designed to be 20 m below the ground with 3 floors whereas the structure of the car park with a capacity of 482 vehicles was designed to be 12 m underground.

Archaeological excavation, the area of 23.250 m² of which varied between 6-10 m, in a total area of 201.474 m³ has been carried out so far within the duration of 6 years to be able to commence the construction of this station. Many historical artefacts were encountered during the archaeological excavations carried out under the supervision of Directorate of Istanbul Archaeology Museums in the station area. The fact that the history of Istanbul dates back to 8,500 years ago was concluded by the experts studying the findings in the excavation site.

23 sunken ships dated between 5th - 15th centuries were found on the archaeological excavations carried out so far. While all of these were transferred to desalinization pool by Istanbul University Protection and Maintenance of Moveable Cultural Heritage experts, the conservation activities are still in progress.

Subsequent to the completion of these activities, the models for these will be prepared to be exhibited in a place to be designated by Directorate of Istanbul Archaeology Museums.

The remains of the small church (chapel) found in Yenikapı station zone was temporarily transferred to an appropriate area within the station zone following certification under supervision of Directorate of Istanbul Archeology Museums officials in line with Board for Protection decision.

• Yenikapı Station

Yenikapı Station is a very important station where Taksim-Yenikapı Subway Line, Marmaray and Aksaray-Airport, Başakşehir-Olimpiyat Stadium Subway Lines are combined and where travel integration will be provided.

At Yenikapı Station which takes longer time than the planned schedule due to archeological excavations; electro-mechanic production (including fine works) works are about to be completed.

Istanbul Subway Yenikapı Station that is integrated with Following completion of Haliç Subway Crossing Bridge

project, travelling will be ensured to Hacıosman Station using Taksim Subway Line by passing by Marmaray to Yenikapu and from Yenikapı to the subway line and, additionally, up to Atatürk Airport by passing from Yenikapı to Aksaray LRT line. As a result of commissioning of Ayrılıkçeşmesi Station with passengers and ensuring its integration with Marmaray Line; the subway lines of Istanbul on the Asian Side and Anatolian side were connected to each other.

As dense archeological findings were detected as a result of the georadar conducted in the 2nd Concourse structure, archeological excavation works are ongoing.

Süleymaniye area exit structure was completed by means of the mezzanine tunnels where technical volumes of the both concourse structures are located.

Station structure consists of two separate exit structures. Construction works were completed at the 1st Concourse where archeological excavation works finished and Electro-Mechanic and Fine Works are about to be completed. In the 2nd Concourse structure where archeological excavations are ongoing, on the other hand, excavations works are at the final stage and Resolution of the Protection Board is awaited.
