Biochemical Tests Mobility Test

Many bacteria are active against environmental factors.

The movement takes place via flagellum

Monotric flagella: A single flagella (Vibrio cholerae)

Peritric flagella: A large number of flagella in many parts of the cell (E. coli)

Lofotric Flagella: More than one flagella at one or both ends (Pseudomonas species).

Amphitric flagella: One flagella at each end (Spirillum volutans)

Biochemical Tests Mobility Test

Agar-reduced media are used in the mobility test.

Normally, the agar content of 1.5%, but in the case of mobility test agar concentration adjusted to 0.4% to

allow for movement.

In the mobility test, the media placed in sterile tubes are cooled.

Needle tip loop is used.

Biochemical Tests Motion Test

The test can also examine the fermentation properties

with the aid of inducing agents.

Biochemical Tests Mobility Test

In the presence of an indicator agent such as

tetrazolium chloride, its ability to movement is more

easily understood.

Biochemical Tests Mobility Test

The microorganism is called immobile if there is

improvement around the needle-only care in the medium as a result of the motion test.

However, if there is a turbidity and traces of movement in the medium, the microorganism is

considered to be mobile.

Selective Media: A medium that promotes the development of a particular microorganism and prevents the growth of others. Differential Media: A medium used to distinguish differences

crystal violet in the medium prevent the growth of Gram (+) bacteria and are used as selective indicator in the medium. When lactose is used, a red color is formed due to the pH

1) For fermentation test, phenol red is placed on four nutrient broth media containing glucose, sucrose,. lactose

Fermentation Tests - Triple Sugar Iron (TSI) Agar Test.. TSI agar is especially used to identify Gram (-) bacteria such as

At the end of the experiment, it is obtained whether glucose is used in fermentative way, organic acids are.. formed in the medium and

If the microorganism has the amylase activity, it will break down starch molecules and use glucose when added to starchy agar medium. In this case,

If microorganism having the gelatinase enzyme forms a gelatinase zone in the gelatin nutrient medium. If there is liquefaction in the medium:

Antibiogram tests are often used to determine antibiotics and effect doses that can be used to prevent the growth or growth of
