«Biofuels»

• Availability of raw materials

• Sustainability

• Low cost

• Environmental factors

(3)

 Energy sources

 Non-renewable:

 oil

 coal

 natural gas

 nuclear energy etc

 Renewable:

 solar

 wind

 water energy

 biomass etc

(4)

 High energy density

 Ease in storage

 Safety (environment and health)

 Quality

(5)

Due to the increase in world population, fossil energy sources are being

consumed more and more every day. Frequent use of these fuels also causes

environmental problems.

(6)

 Burning directly

 Various processes can be applied

(7)

 For sustainable development it is necessary to find alternative energy sources especially renewable

 It is thought that biofuel production from local sources will help

to reduce dependence on foreign sources.

(8)

 Another problem is global warming and climate change.

 Greenhouse gases, the products of energy sectors and absorb and emit thermal radiation are the main factors for global

warming.

 In this context, encouraging the use of renewable energy

sources that prevent global warming by reducing greenhouse gas

emissions is in high demand.

(9)

Energy resources are divided into two main groups in terms of formation times

Non-renewable

(oil, coal, natural gas etc)

Formation time is too high

Renewable sources

(water, wind, solar, geothermal,

wave and biomass)

(10)

In recent years, it has been noted that the use of «microbial biomass» forenergy and biofuel production has many advantages in the

literature.

(11)

Important Biofuel Types

 Bioalcoholes - bioethanol - biobutanol - biopropanol

 Biodiesel

 Bioethers (fuel additives)

 Biogas

 Biohydrogene

 Methanole

 Methane

 Jet fuel

 Vegetable oils etc.

crystal violet in the medium prevent the growth of Gram (+) bacteria and are used as selective indicator in the medium. When lactose is used, a red color is formed due to the pH

1) For fermentation test, phenol red is placed on four nutrient broth media containing glucose, sucrose,. lactose

Fermentation Tests - Triple Sugar Iron (TSI) Agar Test.. TSI agar is especially used to identify Gram (-) bacteria such as

At the end of the experiment, it is obtained whether glucose is used in fermentative way, organic acids are.. formed in the medium and

If the microorganism has the amylase activity, it will break down starch molecules and use glucose when added to starchy agar medium. In this case,

If microorganism having the gelatinase enzyme forms a gelatinase zone in the gelatin nutrient medium. If there is liquefaction in the medium:

Normally, the agar content of 1.5%, but in the case of mobility test agar concentration adjusted to 0.4% to.. allow

Antibiogram tests are often used to determine antibiotics and effect doses that can be used to prevent the growth or growth of
