THE EXAMINATION OF VARIOUS EMOTIONAL VARIABLES ON INDIVIDUAL WITH AND WITHOUT PHYSICAL DISABILITY

ABSTRACT

This research aims at examining body perceptions and the levels of depression and social appearance anxiety of adolescent disabled and able-bodied individuals. The sample group of this research consists of ninety participants, forty-five of which are disabled individuals while the other forty-five are able bodied. The data of the research has been acquired through the Beck Depression Scale, Social Appearance Anxiety Scale and Body Image Perception Scale. The results indicate that while the depression and social appearance anxiety levels of disabled individuals are higher than those of able-bodied, the satisfaction they get from their body image perception is lower.
