Seventh International Meeting on Electrochromism (IME-7), Istanbul, Turkey, 3–7 September 2006

The strong interest in electrochromism has facilitated the formation of a series of international meeting dedicated solely to this topic. The seventh such meeting, IME-7, was held in Istanbul, Turkey. The current issue of the publication Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells contains inorganic and organic electrochromic materials and device-oriented papers from the International Meeting on Electrochromism (IME-7). The IME-7 conference attracted more than 80 attendees from academic and industrial laboratories from 21 countries. Although most of the participants came from European countries, there were also participants from USA, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

Approximately 50 papers were presented at the con- ference. Most of the papers related to the topic of switching device applications. Each main session began with an

invited paper given by internationally recognized expert in the field. The invited and contributed papers were received with interest and lively exchanges followed each presenta- tion. As a result of continued interest in the field, the presented papers will be published in the upcoming special issue of Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells. The special issue contains 26 papers, two of which have been invited.

We would like to thank all of the reviewers and the members of the scientific committee for their assistance in editing the proceeding issue. Many thanks to the organiza- tion committee, invited speakers, attendees and volunteers for making this meeting reality.
