DearEditor,
Ireadthemanuscriptentitled‘‘Sleepdisordersinchildren with moderate to severe persistent allergic rhinitis’’ by Loekmanwidjaja,et al.1 The manuscriptis sovaluable,it isabouttheevaluationoftheinterferenceofallergic rhini-tisonsleepdisordersinchildren.Insleepdisorders,diseases causingnasalcongestionandupperairwayobstructionare always important. Besides allergicrhinitis, infectious dis-easesandhypertrophy ofadenoidandtonsillar tissuesare alsoconditionsthataffect sleepdisorders.2 Allergic rhini-tishasalsoeffectonadenotonsillarhypertrophy.3,4Tonsillar hypertrophyhasagreatroleinobstructingupperairway, and consequentlyinsleepdisorders.5Thismanuscriptdiscussed allergicrhinitisinchildrenwithsleepdisorders, butwe can-notomitadenotonsillarhypertrophyandother obstructive conditions.Whenspeakingaboutsleepdisordersinchildren, itwouldbebettertobringalsoupsomediscussionregarding adenotonsillarhypertrophyandotherobstructivediseases, notonlyallergicrhinitis.
