Yapılan çalışma sonucu Artvin ili böcek faunası olarak oldukça zen-gin tür sayısına sahip olduğu ve 830 türün varlığı belirlenmiştir. Artvin-de tespit edilen böceklerArtvin-den tür sayısı bakımından sırasıyla Coleoptera, Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera, Hemiptera, Odonata, Neuroptera, Trichoptera, Ephemeroptera takımları izlemiştir. Artvin ilinde tespit edi-lenden daha fazla sayıda böcek türü olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bölgede ya-pılacak entomolojik çalışmaların artmasıyla böcek çeşitliliğinin sayısı da artacaktır.
Son yıllarda, doğal kaynakların aşırı derecede sürdürülebilir olmayan kullanımı, iklim değişimi, çevre kirliliği gibi etkenlerle biyoçeşitlilik ciddi oranda zarar görmektedir. Artvin ilinde de biyoçeşitlilikte zararlanmalar söz konusudur. Çalışma konumuz olan Artvin ili böcekleri de; böcek ka-çakçılığı, HES inşaatları, madencilik, baraj inşaatları, yol yapımı, tarım alanlarının genişletilmesi, tarım alanlarında kimyasalların kullanımı gibi çeşitli etkenlerin yoğun tehdidi altındadır.
Gerek Artvin’de gerekse ülkemizde böcek biyoçeşitliliğini korumaya yönelik bir takım önlemler alınmalıdır. Ülkemizin de taraf olduğu Bern Sözleşmesi, CITES Sözleşmesi ve Biyolojik Çeşitlilik Sözleşmesi kuralla-rı gereği böcek çeşitliliğimizi korumaya yönelik faaliyetlerde bulunulma-lıdır. Böcek çeşitliliğini korumak için; ülkemizde gerçekleştirilen entomo-lojik araştırma alan ve düzeyileri arttırılmalı, biyokaçakçılık önelenmeli, Türkiye için ulusal böcek veritabanı oluşturulmalı, entomolojik çalışma-ların desteklenmesine yönelik projelere ağırlık verilmeli ve çevreye zarar veren kimyasal uygulamalardan kaçınılmalıdır.
