The main aim of the work is to investigate the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey unions that deal with the Religion-Society relations. Firstly, the activities between the members of the same union are examined. Then, in general, the reactions of the conservative sector against the attacks to religious values are examined. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the activities of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey affiliated unions in many aspects and share the results with the public. The performed activities of the unions in the context of Religion-Society connections are revealed by considering both positive and negative aspects. The research is divided into the two main frames, theoretical and practical. While forming the theoretical ground, we performed literature review throughout the whole study. The main benefited sources are books, statistics, published papers, news media and relevant web sites. The practical part of the work utilizes surveys and interviews. The concluded remarks are presented in forms of tables to the benefit of science. The study is composed of four sections. Section 1 deals with the Religion and ReligionSociety relations in terms of sociological perspective. The formation of unionization and conceptual frame are the subject of the Section 2. The unions affiliated with the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey are examined in various aspects and we especially use news and discussions presented in the media. The Section 4 presents the findings of the surveys that constitute the foremost importance of the work. In conclusion, this work helps us to see the important activities that unions play in the Religion-Society connections. We observe that it is necessary and rewarding to have unions specialized in religion area after the appearance of other labor and employee unions. As far as we have found the presence of religious unions for the first time in the world is paramount importance to defend the rights of conservative section of the society both in the media and international arena.
