FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION
4.0 Presentation
In this section the results of the questionnaires applied to 81 teachers from different schools in Nicosia, Kyrenia, Famagusta, Morphou and Iskele and from the villages in these districts will be discussed. This chapter also includes investigations on the significant differences that have been found by the data analysis.
4.1 Awareness of Dyslexia
31 % of the teachers (n= 26) did not have to take part in the survey research as they did not know what dyslexia was. Their lack of knowledge is believed to be lack of basic and follow up training and on the job skills development.
4.1.1 Awareness of the Definition of Dyslexia
The results of the research for the awareness of the definition of dyslexia show that a high percentage of the respondents are not aware of the definition. The questions in table 8 were designed to find out the extent of the teachers’ awareness of the definition of dyslexia.
