Simple Present Tense (Geniş Zaman)
Bu zaman kalıbını genelde yaptığımız işleri, her zaman tekrarlanan eylemleri ve alışkanlıklarımızı anlatırken kullanırız. Bu kalıbı Türkçeye çevirirken genellikle fiile “-r, -ar, -er, -ir, -ır, -ur, -ür” ekleri getiririz. (yapar, gider, gelir, oynar, vb.)POSITIVE (+) NEGATIVE (-) QUESTION FORM (?)

fiile “-s, -es, -ies” eklerinden biri getirilir.

Not: Olumsuz cümle oluştururken;
– “I, You, We, They” öznelerinden sonra “do not/don’t”,
– “He, She, It” öznelerinden sonra “does not/doesn’t” kullanılır.
TELLING THE TIME İngilizce’de saat sorulurken; “What time is it?” veya “What is the time?” soruları kullanılır.
Examples:
What time is it? – What is the time? (Saat kaç?)
It is one o’clock. (saat 1.)
It is five past one.(saat 1’i 5 geçiyor.)
It is quarter past one.(saat 1’i çeyrek geçiyor.)
It is twenty-five past one.(saat 1’i 25 geçiyor.)
It is half past one.(saat 1 buçuk.)
It is twenty to two.(saat 2’ye 20 var.)
It is quarter to two.(saat 2’ye çeyrek var.)
It is ten to two.(saat 2’ye 10 var.)

ACCEPTING – REFUSING (Kabul etme – Reddetme) Karşı tarafa bir ricada bulunurken;
“Can I have …………..?” soru cümlesini kullanırız.
Bu ricaları kabul ederken “Sure.”, “Yes, of course.” gibi yapıları, reddederken de “I’m sorry, it’s all gone.”, “No, it’s all gone.” gibi yapıları kullanırız.
Examples:
Can I have some lemonade?
Yes, of course. (+)Karşı tarafa bir şey ikram ederken;
“Do you want some ………..?” soru cümlesini kullanırız.
Bu soruya olumlu cevap verirken “Yes, please.”, “Yes, of course.”, “Sure.” gibi yapıları, olumsuz cevap verirken de “No, thanks.”, “No, thanks, I don’t like ..…”, “No, thanks, I don’t want any …..” gibi yapıları kullanırız.
Examples:
Do you want some olives?
No, thanks, I don’t like olives. (-)EXPRESSING LIKES – DISLIKES
İngilizce’de sevilen beğenilen şeylerden bahsederken “like, love” fiillerini kullanırız. Sevilmeyen, beğenilmeyen şeylerden bahsederken “don’t/doesn’t like, don’t/doesn’t love, dislike/dislikes” fiillerini kullanırız.
Examples:
I like/love cheese. (+)
I don’t like/don’t love/dislike tea. (-) -Do you like fruit juice?-Yes, I do. – No, I don’t.
He/She likes / loves cheese. (+)
He/She doesn’t like / doesn’t love / dislikes tea. (-) -Does he/she like fruit juice?-Yes, he/she does. – No, he/she doesn’t.

MAKING COMPARISONS – COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES
İki şey karşılaştırılırken sıfatlar kullanılır ve karşılaştırma cümlelerinde bu kullanılan sıfatların hece sayıları önemlidir.
Tek heceli sıfatların sonuna “-er” eki getirilir ve bu cümleye “daha” anlamı katar.short –> shorter small –> smaller tall –> taller
İki veya daha fazla heceli sıfatların önüne “more” kelime getirilir ve bu cümleye “daha” anlamı katar.beautiful –> more beautiful crowded –> more crowded expensive –> more expensive
Note 1: Tek heceli sıfatlarda sıfat “sessiz harf + y” şeklinde bitiyorsa, bu sıfatın sonuna “-er” eki getirilirken “-y” düşer ve yerine “-ier” eki getirilir.
happy –> happier noisy –> noisier busy –> busier
Note 2: Tek heceli sıfatlarda sıfat “sesli harf + sessiz harf” şeklinde bitiyorsa, sıfatın sonundaki sessiz harf çift yazılır ve ardından “-er” eki getirilir.
big –> bigger fat –> fatter hot –> hotter
Bazı sıfatlar düzensiz Bu sıfatlarda kısa ya da uzun sıfatlardaki kurallar uygulanmaz. Bu sıfatlar cümlede “daha” anlamında kullanılacağı zaman sıfat tamamen değişir ve değişirken belli bir kuralı yoktur.good –> better bad –> worse little –> less many/much –> more far –> farther/further
*** Karşılaştırma cümlelerinde sıfatlardan sonra mutlaka “than” ifadesi kullanılır.***

Bu zaman kalıbını, içinde bulunduğumuz anda yapmakta olduğumuz durumları ifade ederken kullanırız. Cümlede fiile “-ing” eki getiririz ve bu kalıbı Türkçeye çevirirken fiile “-yor” eki getiririz.
Ayrıca konuşmanın gerçekleştiği sırada o durumu yapmıyor olsak bile o sıralarda yapmakta olduğumuz durumları da bu zaman kalıbı ile anlatırız.
Değişmekte olan durumları da bu zaman kalıbı ile anlatırız.
Bu zaman kalıbıyla “always” zarfını kullanarak tekrarlanan durumları vurgularız ya da yakınma/hoşnutsuzluk ifade ederiz.
Bu zaman kalıbıyla “tomorrow, next week” gibi gelecek zaman zarflarını kullanarak gelecekte yapmayı planladığımız durumları da ifade edebiliriz.ŞİMDİKİ ZAMAN ZARFLARI (Adverbs of time)
