Fureya
Fureya w as born in Ista n bu l and a fte r ta king her Baccalaureat fro m the French School fo r Girls stu die d p h ilo so p h y a t the U n iv e rs ity of Ista n bu l. In 1946 she began to s tu d y painting and ceram ics in S w itze rla n d , and held an e x h ib itio n in Paris in 1951. In 1956 she w e n t to M e xico on a R ockefeller S cholarship and c a r ried o u t researches there and in the A lfre d U n iv e rs ity in N ew Y ork.
On retu rning to Ista n bu l she c o nce ntra ted on w a ll ceram ics, and her w o rk is to be found in various m useum s and p rivate co lle c tio n s , including the Ista n bu l M use um o f P ainting and S cu lptu re and the Prague N ational M useum . T hough uneven in q u a lity Fureya's w o rk is te ch n ica lly fla w le s s and has a fe m in in e s e n s i tiv ity to colour.
