This week our focus will be on two important ideas. The Age of Enlightment, that took place in 18th century and the American War of Independence. After talking about the basic themes and ideas of the Age of Enlightenment, we will move on to one of the most significant milestones of the American nation: The War of Independence. Therefore, students will read Chapter 8 entitled "Independence and War" from The Great Republic: A History of the American People written by Bailyn et. al. This will help students to have a historical

background on the subject. The Declaration of Independence will also be read and discussed in relation to the historical facts of American Independence War.
