Purpose of the Symposium
PROCESS SAFETY SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION TOPICS
Process Safety Management System is one of the most critical issues that industrial plants can never neglect.
Process safety as a living process focuses on engineering, design, identification of hazards, event analysis, management change, equipment maintenance, supervision and testing, process control and alarm systems, operation and maintenance procedures, training of personnel and human factors.
The SEVESO III Directive, which will be republished in line with our legislation, requires many new obligations to the industrial facility owners/operators regarding the control of major accident risks in order to prevent major industrial accidents and reduce their impact.
In this context, relevant institutions should prepare safety reports and emergency action plans. Besides, the term “Large Accident Scenario” is mentioned in the notifications to be published and the responsibilities of writing new reports are discussed.
The harmonization of the SEVESO III Directive to our legislation will provide significant benefits regarding the prevention and mitigation of major industrial accidents in our country. It will also bring along legal, technical and institutional reforms.
These reforms will lead to technical knowledge, equipment and budget requirements for the relevant stakeholders and will ultimately be a serious test for our country.
Major industrial accidents may cause serious injuries and fatalities, and they may also cause considerable economic, financial and environmental damages. The consequences of hazards will be different for each hazard.
Pressure vessels, equipment, and boilers, which have caused many major industrial accidents in recent years, are widely used in industrial facilities such as petrochemical plants, refineries, paper facilities, etc.
Accidents in recent years show that the failure of the pressure vessels, boilers and equipment may cause serious injuries and fatalities due to fires, explosions, toxic releases, and fragment impact.
In many countries, the regulations and standards mention the necessity of considering these hazards in risk and safety assessments. The proper design, repair, periodic checks, tests and inspections, and integrity assessment of pressure vessels, boilers, and equipment may reduce risks.
On the other hand, technology is developing rapidly, and the most significant innovation of technological development has been Industry 4.0. The intersection of process safety and Industry 4.0 is inevitable, and many technological innovations are emerging.
During this symposium, it is aimed to bring together all stakeholders, the process legislators, auditors, sector employees, trainers, and product and service entrepreneurs, certification bodies. Besides, it is aimed to be helpful for all stakeholders for understanding and directing the process, and to share knowledge, and information regarding researches, solutions, products and services.

Abstract Submission Deadline: 18 January 2019
Abstracts should not be less than 300 words and more than 500 words in length, and should be written in plain Turkish or English.
Abstracts should be sent to the symposium secretariat by e-mail in pdf file format. (e-mail: [email protected]).
Presenter’s name and the correspondence address must be mentioned in the papers with more than one author.
Acceptance of the Abstracts: 02 February 2019
Notification regarding abstract acceptance and scheduling will be sent to the submitting author by the symposium secretariat by 02 February 2019.
Full Manuscript Submission Deadline: 02 March 2019 (Not Mandatory)
The full manuscripts and the presentations prepared in accordance with the guidelines determined by the Symposium Executive Board given below should be forwarded to the symposium secretariat by e-mail in pdf and doc file format by March 02, 2019. (e-mail: [email protected]).

Paper should be prepared in A4 (210 mm x 297 mm) paper size format.
Page margins:
For the first page; top = 3 cm, lower = 3.7 cm, left = 2 cm, right = 2 cm For other pages; top = 2.5 cm, lower = 3.7 cm, left = 2 cm, right = 2 cm.
The paper should be written in two columns of 80 mm width each.
There must be a gap of 10 mm between the columns.
The paper should be written in Times New Roman, single-spaced, two-sided aligned.
The name of the paper, the names of the authors, the names of the institutions where the authors work and the e-mail addresses should be included in the title of the paper.
There should be 4 line gap between the body and the title of the paper.
Section headings should be numbered, only their initials must be written in large numbers and centered on the column.
Papers should not be more than 5 pages (including title, summary, text, figures, tables and references).
