In this thesis, a new interconnector design in which the flow field is created by forming the conventional Crofer22 APU interconnector in the form of a sheet by means of a press shop was performed. This novel design enables to manufacture relatively light weight, compact and low cost SOFC systems. Firstly the formability characteristics of Crofer22 APU sheet having different thicknesses were determined experimentally. The acquired information was applied into the forming simulations in order to numerically investigate the formability of the selected designs. In addition, unlike the literature, the production of interconductors with high volumetric (W / m3) and mass power density (W / kg) was realized. As a result, the design is optimized in terms of 0.2 mm sheet thickness, 0.5 MEG contact width, 0.5 mm trunking depth and 120o rib angle. When the experimental results are examined, the new generation design for a 1 kW KOYP stack has a higher power density of 286% by volume and 177% by mass compared to the conventional design.
