MUHAMMAD İN THE QURAN
1. The Prophet’s Advent Foretold in Scriptures
“ Those who follow the Messenger, he unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (Scriptures)- in the Law and the Gospel- for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil….” (7, Al-A’raf, 157)
“ And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said: ‘O Children of Israel!
I am the Messenger of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law
(which came) before me, and giving Glad Tidings of a Messenger to
come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad’ But when he came to
them with Clear Signs, they said, ‘This is evident sorcery!” (61, Saff,
6)
2. His Name
“ Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” (48, Fath, 29)
“ And Muhammad is no more than a messenger.” (3, Al-Imran, 144)
3. His Language and His Early Years
“ We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran, in order that you may learn wisdom.” (12,Yusuf, 2)
“ So We have made the (Quran) easy in your own tongue, that with it you may give glad tidings to the righteous, and warnings to
people given to contention.” (19, Meryem, 97)
“ The (Quran) is indeed the Message, for you and for people; and soon shall you (all) be brought to account.” (43, Zuhruf, 44)
“ Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter (and care)?
And He found you wandering, and He gave you guidance. And He
found you in need, and made you independent. “ (93, Duha, 6,7,8)
4. His Knowledge before Revelation:
“ You were not (able) to recite a Book before this (Book came), nor are you (able) transcribe it with your right hand: in that case, indeed, would he talkers of vanities have doubted.” (29, Ankebut, 48)
“ We do relate to you the most beautiful of stories, in that We reveal to you this (portion of the) Quran: before this, you too were among those who didn’t know it.” (12, Yusuf, 3)
“ You had not expected that the Book would be sent to you except as
a Mercy from your Lord: therefore you do not lend support in any
way to those who reject (Allah’s Message). ( 28, Kasas, 86)
“ Say: “If Allah had so willed, I should not have rehearsed it to you, nor should He have made it known to you. A whole life-time before this I have tarried amongst you: will you not then understand?” (10, Yunus, 16)
“ Such are some of the stories of the Unseen, which We have
revealed to you: before this , neither you nor your People knew
them….) ( 11, Hud, 49)
5. Muhammad
5.1. As a Human Being
“ You say: “ I am but a man like you: it is revealed to me by
inspiration, that your God is One God: so stand true to Him and for His forgiveness.” And woe to those who join gods with Allah” (41, Fussilat, 6)
“ Say: “ I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the inspiration has
come to me, that your God is One God: whoever expects to meet his
Lord, let him work righteousness, and, in the worship of his Lord,
admit no one as partner.” (18, Kehf, 110)
“ Say: “ I have no power over any good or harm to myself except as Allah wills, If I had knowledge of the unseen, I should have
multiplied all good, and no evil should have touched me: I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings to those who have faith.” (7, A’raf, 188)
“ We did not Grant to any man before you permanent life (here): If
then you should die, would they live permanently?” (21, Enbiya, 34)
5.2. As a Prophet
“ Say: “ O men! I am sent to you all, as the Messenger of Allah, to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: there is no god but He: it is He that gives both life and death. So believe in
Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, who believes in Allah and His Words: follow him that (so) you may guided.”
(7, A’raf,158)
“ Ya Sin. By the Quran, full of Wisdom, You are indeed one of the
Messengers, On a Straight Way.” (36, Ya Sin, 1, 2, 3, 4)
“ And We sent down the Book to you for the Express purpose, that you should make clear to them those things in which they differ, and that it should be a guide and a mercy to those who believe.” (16,
Nahl, 64)
“ O Prophet! Truly We have sent you as a Witness, a Bearer of Glad
Tidings, and a Warner, - And as one who invites to Allah’s (Grace)
by His leave, and as a Lamp spreading Light…” (33, Ahzab, 45-46)
5.3. His Personal Traits
“ Verily We have granted you a manifest Victory: That Allah may
forgive you your faults of the past and those to follow; fulfill His
favor to you; and guide you on the Straight Way; (48, Fath, 1-2)
6. His Mission
“ And We sent down the Book to you for the express purpose, that you should make clear to them those things in which they differ, and that it should be a guide and a mercy to those who believe.” (16, Nahl, 64)
“ O Messenger! Proclaim the (Message) which has been sent to you from your Lord, If you did not, you would not have fulfilled and proclaimed His Mission. And Allah will defend you from men (who mean mischief).
For Allah guides not those who reject Faith.” (5, Maida,67)
“ We have not sent you but as a universal (Messenger) to men, giving them glad tidings, and warning them (against sin), but most men do not understand.”
“ …and invite men to your Lord, and be not of the company o those who
join gods with Allah.” ( 28, Qasas, 87)
7. Perception of the Polytheist about the Prophet Muhammad and the Quran
7.1. Mad and Possessed
“ Do they not reflect? Their Companion is not seized with madness:
he is but a perspicuous warner” ( 7, A’raf, 184)
“ You are not, by the grace of your Lord, mad or possessed.” (68, Qalam, 2)
7.2. Mocked
“ When they see you, they treat you no otherwise than in mockery: “Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a Messenger? (25, Furqan, 41)
7.3. Poet and Soothsayer
“ That this is verily the word of an honored Messenger; It is not the word of a poet little it is you believe! Nor is it the word of a
soothsayer little admonition it is you receive. (This is) a Message sent
down fro the Lord of the Worlds.” (69,Haqqa, 40-43)
8. The Prophet and Miracle
“ They say: “ We shall not believe in you, until you cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth, “ or (until) you have a garden of date trees and vines, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst, carrying abundant water; “or, you cause the sky to fall in pieces, as you say (will happen), against us; or you bring Allah and the angels before (us) face to face; “ or you have a house adorned with gold, or you mount a ladder right into the skies. No, we shall not even believe in your mounting until you send down to us a book that we could read.”
Say: “ Glory to my Lord! Am I anything but a man, -a Messenger?”
(17, İsra, 90-93)
“ They say:”O you to whom the Message is being revealed truly you
are mad (or possessed) !
“ And they say: “ What sort of a Messenger is this, who eats food, and walks through the streets? Why has not an angel been sent down to him to give admonition with him? “Or (why) has not a treasure been bestowed on him, or why has he (not) a garden for enjoyment?”
The wicked say: “ You follow none other than a man bewitched.”
(25, Furqan, 7,8)
“ Yet they say: “Why are not Signs sent down to him from his Lord?”
Say: “ The Signs are indeed with Allah: and I am indeed a clear
Warner.” “And it is not enough for them that We have sent down to
you the Book which is rehearsed to them? Verily, in it is Mercy and a
Reminder to those who believe.” ( 29, Ankabut, 50-51)
“ And We refrain from sending the Signs, only because the man of former generations treated them as false: We sent the She-camel to the Thamud to open their eyes, but they treated her wrongfully:
We only send the Signs by way of terror (and warning from evil)”

9. His Personality
“ And you (stand) on an exalted standard of character” (68, Qalam;
4)
“ It is part of the Mercy of Allah that you deal gently with them. If you were severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you: so pass over (their faults), and ask for (Allah’s)
forgiveness for them; and consult them in affairs (of moment). Then, when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah. For Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). (3, Al-I Imran, 159)
“ Now has come to you a Messenger from amongst yourselves; it grieves him that you should perish: he is ardently anxious over you:
to the Believers he is most kind and merciful.” (9, Tauba, 128)
“It may be you fret your soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.” (26, Shu’ara, 3)
“ You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of
conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day , and
who engages much in the praise of Allah.” (33, Ahzab, 21)
