MOLECULAR BIOLOGY OF
DIFFERENTIATION
DEVELOPMENT
• Development is the process of progressive changes during an organism's take on
successive shapes that characterize its life cycle.
• The first stages of the development of a plant or animal are called embryos.
• Development process
• has two main components besides growth, cell growth and cell division:
differentiation and morphogenesis.
• Morphogenesis, differentiated to specific
tissue structure of the organization consists of formal training.
• In animals, besides the programmed death of some cells (apoptosis), cell movements are also very important in morphogenesis.
Differentiation
• Formation of cellular specificity.
• Determines the specific structure and function of a cell.
