Dersin Amacı Course Objectives

OKUMA

Dönem bitiminde öğrenciler cesitli akademik konularda 550-1000 kelimelik akademik metinleri okuma becerisini geliştirmiş olacaklardır. Ingilizce 3 dersinde öğrenilen becerileri de gelistirme imkanı bulacaklardır.

Bunların yanında edinilecek beceriler aşağıdaki gibidir:

 Metnin işlevini tanımlama, Metni notlarla açıklama

 Genel anlam için okuma, okuma parçası bölümlerini gözden geçirme

 Ana fikri ve destekleyici fikirleri tanımlama

 Paragrafların işlevini tanımlama

 Bağlamdan kelime anlamını tanımlama

 Konular hakkında fikir geliştirme

 Anahtar noktaları tanımlama ve özetleme

 Araştırmayı kanıt olarak kullanma

 Yazarın tartışmasını desteklemek için notlar hazırlama

 Okuma parçasını tarama ve fikirleri seçme

 Yazılı ödev için uygun okuma parçalarını seçme

 Okuma parçalarından faydalanma: Sunuma yönelik deneme hazırlığı

YAZMA

Bu ders öğrencilerin İngilizce 1 İngilizce 2 ve İngilizce 3 derslerinde öğrenmiş oldukları okuma ve yazma

tekniklerini pratik etmeleri ve geliştirmeleri için

tasarlanmıştır. Dönemin sonunda öğrenciler pratik etmiş oldukları bu becerileri sentezleyerek:

READING

By the end of the course, students will have developed their ability to cope with 550-1000 word texts on a variety of topics, especially authentic academic texts at high B2 level. It will provide opportunities to practise the skills developed in English Three. In addition, they will be able to:

 Identify function of the text; annotating text

 Read for general understanding : Considering section headings

 Identify the main and supporting ideas

 Identify the function of paragraphs

 Identify word meaning from context

 Develop ideas about the topics

 Identify and summarize key points

 Use research as evidence

 Prepare notes to support a writer’s discussion

 Scan the texts and select ideas

 Select appropriate texts for paper.

 Make use of the texts: Simulate preparation for a presentation

WRITING

During this course students will get practice in the skills they have learnt in English One, English Two and English Three.

By the end of the course, students will be able to synthesize these skills in order to:

 Sorun-Çözüm-Analiz yöntemini SPSIE

(Situation, Problems, Solutions, Implications and Evaluation) uygulayarak, akademik yazım kuralları ve kaynakça gösterme düzenlemesine uygun olarak yazılan, detaylandırılmış bir araştırma metni yazarlar.

 Ders bünyesindeki yazı ve araştırma

çalışmalarında intihal üzerine bilgi verilmeye devam edilecek ve engellenmesinin altı çizilecektir.

KONUSMA

 Öğrenciler bu dersin sonunda,

 Çeşitli teknik ve stratejiler kullanarak, akademik bağlamda fikir ve düşüncelerini ifade

edebilecekler.

 Sınıf ortamında, akademik bir konuya ilişkin tartışmayı başlatabilecek, sürdürebilecek ve tartışmaya etkin bir biçimde katkı

sağlayabilecekler.

Doğal sözlü çıktılar üretebilecekler. / Sözlü dilde anında yanıtlar verebilecekler. /Doğal, hazırlıksız konuşmalar yapabilecekler.

 Write an extended essay using SPSIE

(Situation, Problems, Solutions, Implications and Evaluation) approach and appropriate academic conventions, such as MLA or APA

 The course will continue to reinforce the importance of avoiding plagiarism.

SPEAKING

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

 Express ideas and opinions in response to others using a variety of techniques and strategies in academic contexts

 Initiate, participate in, contribute effectively and add to a discussion on a relevant academic topic in a classroom setting Produce spontaneous spoken output
