R ecently classified as a n “en­ gineering du ty officer, electronics," L ieu ten an t W hite has been as­ signed to du ty as an electronics tra in in g a ss ista n t in th e Navy B ureau of Ships.

She is “th e f irs t navy woman on active du ty to be designated as an engineer,” th e navy said in its announcem ent.

W ASHINGTON, A pril 17 (AP) — S en ato r D ouglas of Illinois blcsted th e P e n ta g o n ’s system of e x tra hazard pay fo r som e m ilitary m en today, saying it places a “price ta g ” on m orale of fighting m en and creates a “super-elite."
