Boron n itrid e (BN ), one o f th e h ig h -te ch p ro d u c ts o f boron, is a m aterial w ith s u p e rio r p ro p e rtie s such as re fra c to ry p ro p e rtie s at high tem p era ture s, high th e rm a l shock resistance, high th e rm a l c o n d u c tiv ity , e le ctrica l insulation, chem ical and m echanical sta bility, lu b ric a tio n and easy process ability. Thanks to th is fe atures th in h-BN c o a tin g s fin d a p p lic a tio n s in several fie ld s such as p ro te c tiv e c o a tin g fo r o xid atio n, h u m id ity and corrosion. In th is s tu d y b oron n itrid e th in film s on glass su bstrates were m a n u fa ctu re d fro m b o ric acid and urea so lu tio n by d ip -c o a tin g so l-ge l te chn iqu e. D iffe re nt co n c e n tra tio n s o f m e ta n o lic b o ric acid s o lu tio n s w ere s tu d ie d to fo rm BN th in film co atin gs on glass substrate. The im p re g n a te d th in film s p ro d u ce d via th is te c h n iq u e w ere heated to 550 °C at a rate o f 5 °C /m in fo r 2 h in a fu rn ace w ith N2 atm osphere. Scanning e le ctro n m ic ro s c o p y (Zeiss Supra 4 0 V P ) was e m p lo ye d to in ve stiga te th e BN c o a tin g m orph olo gie s. The phases o f th e n itrid a tio n p ro d u c ts w ere ch aracte rize d by X-ray d iffra c tio n (XRD, Panalytical, Em pyrean). Surface roughness o f th in film s was d e te rm in e d by using A to m ic -F o rc e M icroscopy (AFM ). The best m olar c o n c e n tra tio n o f th in film s was d e c id e d a cco rd in g to th e stru c tu ra l and roughness p ro p e rtie s o f m a n u fa ctu re d samples.
