Bir yepyeni devrin başı oldun; seni tarih,

Elbet koyacaktır ebedin koynuna Fâtih!

Beyhûde fakat, sığmıyacaksm; ebediyyet

Bin parça olurken duyacak ismine minnet.

Dînim gibi ey kadri nihayet bilinen hak,

Tasdikine kâfir bile âmâde muhakkak.

H asret denilen meş’ale yanmış ta kanında

Millet sarıyor kâbeni, toplandı yanında.

Lâkin yine bir sahne y arat bizlere ilkin,

Ruhunla buluş, zelzele kopmuş gibi silkin.

Birdenbire aç toprağı “yurdum!” diye fırla,

Beş yüz senedir görmediğin kavmi hatırla.

Yekpâre demir topla, kıvılcım gibi erle,

Sâhilde yüzen misli bulunmaz gemilerle

Askerliği bir mûcize halindeki dâhi!

Arkanda beyaz tolgalı binlerce sipâhi,

Geç Topkapıdan bir daha som sırma atınla,

Göster bize bir başka cihan saltanatınla.

Hâlâ bakarız aksine her kışta ve yazda,

Gölgen dolaşırken gece heybetle Boğazda,

Boşlukta gümüş hançerinin namlısı parlar,

Görmüş gibi titrer yüce simanı hisarlar.

İstanbula çepçevre saran mavi kenardan,

Şen Kızkulesinden, Sanyerden, Adalardan,

Sâkin ve güzel Üsküdarın gölgelerinden,

Altın Haücin kâsede altın seherinden

Sevginle buhurdan gibi tütm ekte olan nûr

— Tâcınla rekâbet edecekmiş gibi m ağrur —

Akşamla ufuktan süzülür, türbene damlar,

Hürmetle tabiat o büyük lahdi selâmlar.

Olsun bu şeref menbaı gün ırkıma kutlu,

“Türküm!” diye çarpan, övünen kalbe ne

m utlu!
