Scifinder 的學習心得與使用成果

進入搜尋首頁打入想要搜尋得主題,並且可以依你不同的需求縮小搜尋範圍, 可以選擇(1)發行的年份(2)文件的格式(3)語言(4)作者的名稱(5)公司名稱,你還可 以藉由畫出你所要尋找的東西的結構式、反應式來搜尋 但是有一些限制如下

• Concepts used in the input phrase of a research topic cannot exceed 7 (seven). • Terms used to define a single concept as part of a research topic cannot exceed

8 (eight).

• Words used in the input phrase of a research topic cannot exceed 40 (forty). • Boolean AND or operators used to define a single concept as part of a research

topic cannot exceed 3 (three).

並且在搜尋的時候 Research topics should be composed of two or three concepts combined with prepositions, conjunctions, and other simple parts of speech.

Sometimes, SciFinder cannot figure out the differences in the words AND OR. In these cases, SciFinder runs the search using AND OR and presents both results for your selection.

Distributed Modifiers

Although it is natural (and grammatically correct) to say, "I am interested in liver or nasal apoptosis," SciFinder does not recognize distributed modifiers. You must describe the topic to SciFinder as, "I am interested in liver apoptosis or nasal apoptosis."

Negation

You may describe a research topic using negative terms such as NOT or EXCEPT

Abbreviations and Misspellings

SciFinder is designed to recognize and accept:

• Commonly used abbreviations, such as BTU and Prep • Commonly misspelled words ("affect" instead of "effect")

• Words spelled according to either British or American English ("colour" or "color")

Synonyms

You may enter synonyms in your research topic search. Place synonyms in parentheses next to the topic you entered.

Truncated Words and Truncating Symbols

SciFinder automatically truncates the terms in your query and searches for plural forms, past tense verbs, and other word forms. Do not include truncation or wildcard symbols (such as ! or *) in your search terms. SciFinder disregards them and

interprets the remaining characters literally.

Boolean Searches

Do not use Boolean logic or wording groupings, as SciFinder does not understand them. In SciFinder searching, parentheses indicate synonyms, not groupings. Use conjunctions and prepositions instead of symbols.

1. Serum fructosamine, total cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein in children with asthma during glucocorticoid treatment

Background/Aims: Glucocorticoids may have adverse effects on carbohydrate and lipid metab. The present study was conducted to investigate possible effects on carbohydrate and lipid metab. of inhaled and oral glucocorticoids in children with asthma. Methods: Two randomised controlled trials with blinded crossover designs were performed. Active treatment was 400 μg inhaled budesonide or 5 mg

prednisolone orally daily during one week. The budesonide trial included 17 and the prednisolone trial 20 school children. Serum fructosamine, total cholesterol and high-d. lipoprotein were assessed. Results: Serum fructosamine was increased during active treatment (prednisolone 252.3 μM vs. placebo 247.3 μM; P = 0.03 and

budesonide 228.1 μMversus no treatment 223.1 μM; P = 0.02). Total cholesterol and high-d. lipoprotein were not statistically significantly increased. Conclusion:

Short-term treatment with oral prednisolone and inhaled budesonide may adversely affect mean blood glucose concn. Possible long-term consequences require further investigations.

3. On the secondary toolbar, click Get Substances.

The Get Substances dialog box displays.

4. Select the scope of references to retrieve substances from: o All references

5. You can Choose to Limit results by selecting one or more limiters. When multiple limiting roles are selected, records display that include data for any of the selected properties (Boolean OR). For example, if both Occurrence and Process are selected, a substance that has either an Occurrence role or a Process role is included among the search results.

6. Click either:

o Get to retrieve the specified substances. o Cancel to cancel the retrieval operation.

After you click Get Substances, continue with any of the actions available for substances.

我懵懵懂懂的使用過後真的慢慢體會出他的功能性之強大,果然有那個價值存在。 感覺如果以後有碰到一些難題,都可以用這兩套系統來幫助我,更有效率的找到 我所需要的資料,這真的非常適合研究者發明東西的時候用!
