Course Descriptions

MCAC101 Announcement and Dictation Techniques (3 credits) This course aims to transfer all information, regulations and procedures about Announcement and Dictation Techniques to students.

Students who pass the course will be able to know about necessary skills to speak fluently and clearly by using the language correctly, be able to pronunciate words correctly and making anoouncements under suitable conditions with effective speaking skills in normal and in normal situations.

MCAC105 Normal Safety Rules, Organization Responsibility (3 credits) This course aims to transfer all information, regulations and procedures about Normal Safety Rules, Organizational Responsibilities to students. Students who pass the course will be able to know about the rules of passenger and load transport, the preparation at aircraft park position. Preparing cabin okay report, the briefing rules. Learning the safety rules of civil aviation, what to do during turbulent weather.

MCAV101 Introduction to Civil Aviation (3 credits) This course aims to transfer all priority information, regulations, definitions and procedures about Civil Aviation to students. Students who pass the course will be able to know about aviation alphabet and aviation concept in general terms, the current position of Turkey in general and the Civil Aviation Sector in the World, aerodynamics with the introduction of aircraft types and outlines the basic structure of the aircraft, the disclosure of information related to Meteorology and achievement of No. 2920 of the Civil Aviation Act in general, the regulations of Civil Aviation institutions in the world and Turkey, the basic concepts of Meteorology, Flight Safety and the concept of Airworthiness.

MCAV102 Civil Aviation Rules (3 credits) This course aims to explain to students a general information about Civil Aviation Rules and explain to students all things except technical details about Civil Aviation Concept. Students who pass the course will be able to know about in detail the Civil Aviation Law 2920 and SHT OPS 1 and the civil aeronautics regulations with other important procedures and asses National civil aviation sector in the base on international with making comparisons.

MCAV106 Aviation Terminology (3 credits) This course aims to transfer all terminology, regulations and procedures about Aviation to students. Students who pass the course will be able to know about how to use the terminology and abbreviations about necessary documents and forms for the aviation sector, how to read and write the initiative of terms in documents properly and understand and use phonetic alphabet when needed and analyze why all forms and documents is used.

MCAV205 Dangerous Goods (3 credits) This course aim stop rovide the knowledge of all theim portantissues in civilaviation industry about dangerous goods. Students who pass the course will be able to know about what can define as dangerous goods in aviation and why them should be secured, who is charge in application of there gardin grules, which carriage goods can accept for scheduled flight by diştin guish packages ignsand labels of dangerous goods, precaution sand emergency response incasepossibility of incident sand accidents caused by dangerous goods, restrictions, limit sand carriage conditions of good swhich is defined as dangerous and which type of baggage contain can define as dangerous good and have general information IATA Carrier and other country protocols regarding dangerous goods.

MCAC110 Communication (3 credits) This course aims to transfer all information, regulation and procedures about Effective Communication with giving information on the “concept of communication and process”, “verbal communication”, “nonverbal communication”, “interpersonal communication”, “group communication and communication within the organization”, “mass communication”, “online communication”, “international and intercultural communication” by knowing communication concept and process. Purposes and objectives of nonverbal, verbal and written communication and the methods of communication with passengers are described in detail.

MCAC209 Inflight Catering Service (3 credits) This course’s target is to analyze and practice cabin service techniques and serving equipmentsbasically.Students will gain ability, accuracy and proficiency of the following topicsimpact of food and beverage service on passengers, service preparations, important points of the service, service equipment handling, loading and delivery of catering equipment, standard serving techniques, service concepts presented on board according to configuration and passenger types (Economy class, Business class, First class), rules of hygiene, special meals, dry store items, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage service techniques, types of service depending on the time of day.

MCAC207 Crew Resources Management (CRM) (3 credits) This course aims to transfer all information, regulations and procedures about Crew Resource Management to students. Students who pass the course will be able to know about Crew Resource Management, and these are reinforced by examples. The identification of risk and hazards that may occur in the cabin due to disruption in the chain of command. Crew Resource Management will be held for all situations that may create risks related to explaining the definition important plans. the source of the accident and the using concept of Aviation Sector team in detail. Information and governance, risk and failure will have a general knowledge about the human and modern aviation terminology and the issues in detail.

MCAV214 Safety Management Systems(SMS)(3 credits) This course’sintent is to provide and inform the students about the standards and procedures of Safety Management Systems. Students who pass thecourse will be ableto know about human factor shaving the highest rate of accidents in the aviation industry what is required to zero, hazardanalysis of accident sby evaluating thereduction studie sand the possibility of zero accidents, allforms of aviation SHELL model related withth e safety problems, how to prepare forthe events related risk matrixtoanalyzethe risk matrix and Analyze to avoid therisks of accident sandall there relevant event soccurred , andthenknow how to minimize theseerrors.

MCAC210 Emergency Rules and Mock Up (3 credits) This course objective is to impart theoretical and practical training in cabin crew with the procedures related with flight safety regarding abnormal situations during flight. The primary principle of cabin crew is flight safety.

This course will include evacuation procedures to be followed in emergency landing /ditching situations, emergency equipment used during evacuation, Slide/ Slide-Raft/ Slide Raft equipment, survival kit contents, crew control with necessary positive authority with the physical communication tools used while directing passengers into exits, evacuation of handicapped and incapacitated, choosing ABP’s, briefing and positioning of ABP’s, When discussing the subject of survival, the students will learn the factors affecting survival, main principles of survival, survival techniques on desert/jungle/water, survival kit, contents with its operation.

MCAC204 First Aid (3 credits) The purpose of this course is to equip students with knowledge and ability on the precautions taken for preventing injuries or saving an injured person’s life by

using the first aid methods in case of an accident or emergency case until the medical team arrive.

Provide the necessary knowledge and skills on first aid.

MCAC208 Graduation Projects (3 credits) The aim of this course is to inform students of synthesing courses and work place. The students have to identify the relation between the literature and research together.

With the SMS İN 2012, there are 19 pieces of annexes in Civil Aviation Sector’s most important authority ICAO. This lesson is about the important details of Annex 14 and its principles. The course contains Aerodrome Data, Physical Characteristics, Obstacle Restriction and Removal,Visual aids for navigation, Indicators and installing services, Markings,Lights,Signs, Markers,Visual aids for denoting obstacles, Visual aids for denoting restricted use areas, Equipment and installations, Emergency and other services topics.
