About Program

To prodive the necessary qualified intermediate staff for the civil aviation sector which is becoming more and more important both in Turkey and in world is the main purpose of the program. The students are taught the basic information about the sector in the applied courses. One-year English preparation class is mandatory for the English Program students but it is optional for he Turkish Program students.

Objectives

Graduates from Civil Aviation Management Program can take responsibility when working individually and in groups, professionals and clients can communicate effectively, using qualitative and quantitative data to solve problems arising in civil aviation sector. They can work for civil aviation authorities, airport/airline ground services etc.

The total credits required for the satisfactory completion of the curriculum are 68 credits. The progr am additionallyrequires one internship enduring 40 work days.

Course Descriptions

MCAV101 Introduction to Civil Aviation (3 credits)This course aims to transfer all priority information, regulations, definitions and procedures about Civil Aviation to students. Students who pass the course will be able to know about aviation alphabet and aviation concept in general terms, the current position of Turkey in general and the Civil Aviation Sector in the World, aerodynamics with the introduction of aircraft types and outlines the basic structure of the aircraft, the disclosure of information related to Meteorology and achievement of No. 2920 of the Civil Aviation Act in general, the regulations of Civil Aviation institutions in the world and Turkey, the basic concepts of Meteorology, Flight Safety and the concept of Airworthiness.

MCAV106 Aviation Terminology (3 credits)This course aims to transfer all terminology, regulations and procedures about Aviation to students. Students who pass the course will be able to know about how to use the terminology and abbreviations about necessary documents and forms for the aviation sector, how to read and write the initiative of terms in documents properly and understand and use phonetic alphabet when needed and analyze why all forms and documents is used.

MCAV102 Civil Aviation Rules (3 credits)This course aims to explain to students a general information about Civil Aviation Rules and explain to students all things except technical details about Civil Aviation Concept. Students who pass the course will be able to know about in detail the Civil Aviation Law 2920 and SHT OPS 1 and the civil aeronautics regulations with other important procedures and asses National civil aviation sector in the base on international with making comparisons.

MCAV108 Meterology (3 credits) This course aims to explain to students about flight routes and analyzing weather reports. Students who pass the course will be able to know about importance of aviation weather events and Describe in deeply the 4 weather reports and Narrate related with the weather reports all of the codes and codification.

MCAV205 Dangerous Goods (3 credits)This course’s goal is to obtain and maintain the knowledge of the essential issues in civil aviation industry about dangerous goods. Students who pass the course will be able to know about what can define as dangerous goods in aviation and why them should be secured, who is charge in application of the regarding rules, which carriage goods can accept for scheduled flight by distinguish package signs and labels of dangerous goods, precautions and emergency response in case possibility of incidents and accidents caused by dangerous goods, restrictions, limits and carriage conditions of goods which is defined as dangerous and which type of baggage contain can define as dangerous good and have general information IATA Carrier and other country protocols regarding dangerous goods.

MCAV203 Air Traffic Rules and Management (3 credits) This course aims to transfer all information, regulations and procedures about Air Traffic Rules and Management to students.

Students who pass the course will be able to know about air traffic services controlled airspace and flight regulations, VFR, IFR, NOTAM, ATC allowance and instructions, runway identification markings and analyze all regulations and procedures of air traffic rules by discussing under basic principals.

MCAV201 Airline Management (3 credits)This course aims to transfer all information, regulations and procedures about Airline Management to students. Students who pass the course will be able to know about national and international airline management structures, main task of the airline organization knows their duties and responsibilities, the basic performance indicators about Airlines, airline network structure, being aware of the use of traffic rights, the airline decision-making techniques, the strategic priorities and the implementation of the strategic road maps, the relationship of the management function and the ability to differentiate between them.

MCAV216 Airport Equipment and Operations (3 credits)Airport equipment and operations is related with the Annex 14. With the SMS İN 2012, there are 19 pieces of annexes in Civil Aviation Sector’s most important authority ICAO. This lesson is about the important details of Annex 14 and its principles. The course contains Aerodrome Data, Physical Characteristics, Obstacle Restriction and Removal, Visual Aids forNavigation, IndicatorsandInstalling Services, Markings, Lights, Signs, Markers, Visual Aids for Denoting Obstacles, Visual Aids for Denoting Restricted Use Areas, Equipment and Installations and emergency and other services topics.

MCAV204 Safety Management Systems SMS (3 credits) This course’s intent is to provide and inform the students about the standards and procedures of Safety Management Systems. Students who pass the course will be able to know about human factors having the highest rate of accidents in the aviation industry what is required to zero, hazard analysis of accidents by evaluating the reduction studies and the possibility of zero accidents, all forms of aviation SHELL model related with the safety problems, how to prepare for the events related risk matrix to analyze the risk matrix and Analyze to avoid the risks of accidents and all the relevant events occurred , and then know how to minimize these errors.

MCAV208 Airport Ground Handling Management (3 credits)This course’s purpose is to inform the students about the standards and procedures of Ground Services Management. Students who pass the course will be able to know about the national and international basis with examples related to Location Services Administration , obtain information about all aspects related to the inside and outside of the airport ground services, Location Services which allows all concepts related to regulations connected to the GOM Regulation . apron rules and recognize all equipments which are placed in apron, the principles of loading and calculations which are done for aircrafts.

MCAV210 Graduation Projects (3 credits)The main objective of this course is to instruct the students of synthesing courses and workplace. The students have to identify the relation between the literature and research together
