3.6. Paydaş Analizi
O tema central dessa tese de doutorado é a importância do uso da eletroneuromiografia para a avaliação da neuropatia hansênica, uma complicação muito prevalente da infecção.
O que já se sabia sobre o assunto é que o dano neural é amplamente avaliado por exames clínicos, como o teste muscular voluntário e de monofilamentos, que produzem um diagnóstico tardio da neuropatia. Já sabíamos também que o tratamento com corticosteroides é mais efetivo quando aplicado no início da lesão neural. Compreendemos que a eletroneuromiografia consegue realizar um diagnóstico precoce do dano neural, pois detecta alterações subclínicas imperceptíveis ao exame físico. Portanto, para um tratamento mais efetivo da neuropatia é preciso que o diagnóstico do dano neural seja realizado o mais precoce possível. Descobrimos que um homem entre 41 e 60 anos apresentando formigamento e espessamento neural são características que aumentam a chance de desenvolver a neuropatia hansênica. Sendo assim, para um diagnóstico mais precoce da neuropatia hansênica se deveria levar em consideração o exame de eletroneuromiografia e os fatores clínicos mais associados.
Desse modo, seria possível aumentar a prevenção de incapacidade física e deformidades e consequentemente atingiríamos a meta da Organização Mundial de Saúde de reduzir a incidência de pacientes com incapacidade grau 2 até 2015.
