10 PERSPECTIVAS

O presente trabalho demonstrou resultados que vêm a somar conhecimentos a respeito da resistência apresentada por B. pseudomallei, acentuada pela formação de biofilme. Diante desta problemática, este trabalho trouxe perspectivas acerca do aumento da sensibilidade do biofilme de B. pseudomallei aos antibióticos, gerada pela exposição à drogas não antimicrobianas. Nesse panorama, o uso do farnesol como droga adjuvante mostrou-se promissor, uma vez que o composto desestruturou a matriz do biofilme, facilitando a penetração e, consequentemente, a ação dos antimicrobianos.

O presente trabalho também amplia o panorama para os estudos que buscam alternativas terapêuticas com a utilização do farnesol. No que se refere a sua administração in

vivo, foi demonstrado que a utilização do farnesol revelou efeito tóxico insignificante

(NAVARATHNA et al., 2007). Desse modo, pode-se presumir que a administração do composto em modelos murinos pode ser empregada para a realização de estudos in vivo que possam avaliar a ação do farnesol contra B. pseudomallei no organismo hospedeiro.
