Pediatric and adult patients with pulmonary hypertension

and a challenging case

1

A very important retrospective, single-center, observational study of patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH-Groups 1,4, and 5) from İstanbul University Institute of Cardiology and their expe-rience over 10 years is presented by Ümit Yaşar Sinan et al. It would be helpful to compare it with data from other centers focusing on PH.

Another PH study of pediatric patients submitted by Gazi University, Ankara makes the picture complete.

Veysel Oktay et al. report the scientific publication performance of abstracts presented at the National Cardiology Congress between 2011 and 2015. I hope these valuable results encourage the presenters to publish their abstracts as full papers.

Hua Cao et al. describe 12 patients with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) for whom percutane-ous PDA occlusion was performed without the use of X-ray. This makes this technique safer for the patients and the physicians.

Lidija Savic et al., from Serbia, discuss the prognostic impact of renal dysfunction on long-term mortality in patients with various degrees of left ventricle systolic function following myocardial infarction.

Esra Tuba Mutlu et al. analyze gene copy number variations among 45 apparently non-syn-dromic patients with cardiac septal defects using the multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplifi-cation assay technique.

Ahmet Arnaz et al. provide technical details of the modified Blalock-Tausig anostomosis angle and pulmonary artery diameter on pulmonary flow.

LMNA gene mutations and dilated cardiomyopathy were recently reviewed by Sabine Panku-weit in the European Heart Journal (1). In this issue, Najlae Adadi et al. present a report of a Moroc-can family with dilated cardiomyopathy and LMNA mutation and sudden cardiac death. This is a contribution to the literature on dilated cardiomyopathy.

Finally, “An extreme example of early repolarization” is a very interesting case report with a challenging electrocardiogram (ECG). As Editor-in-Chief, I would like to express my gratitude to the distinguished expert on ECGs, Prof. Baranchuk , who kindly agreed to write an editorial on this case.

I hope readers enjoy exploring this new issue of the Anatolian Journal of Cardiology. Prof. Dr. Çetin Erol
