Solutions prepared on the basis of dilution

Solvents prepared according to the amount of solute

(3)

Solutions Based on Dilution Method

It is used to prepare a lower concentration solution using high concentration solution.

C1.V1 = C2.V2 M1.V1 = M2.V2

C1: The concentration of the high concentration solution we have

V1: Volume of high concentration solution we have

C2: The concentration of solution we want to prepare

V2: The volume of solution we want to prepare

(4)

For example; How many ml of water is needed to dilute 10 ml of 5% NaCl solution to 2%?

10x5 = 2xV2, V2 = 25 ml

25-10 = 15 ml of water should be added as the final volume should be 25 ml.

(5)

ppm (Parts Per Million) Solutions

ppm is a unit used in very low concentration solutions.

A solution of 1 million parts by weight of the solution consists of a 1 ppm solution. It is usually the amount of substance in mg dissolved in 1 L solution.

1ppm = 1 mg / L

(6)

For example; What is the percent of a solution containing 20 ppm Na?

20ppm = 20 mg / L = 2 mg / 100 ml = 0.002g / 100 ml, 0.002%

Solvents prepared according to the amount of solute

1) Saturated solution

Solvents are present in the solute which can dissolve in a

certain temperature. After adding the amount of

substance added to the solvent after a certain point, the

added substance is collected as a separate phase which is

insoluble in the solution. In the saturated solution, a

dynamic balance between the solid or liquid phase and

the solution phase in the vessel was established.

2) Unsaturated solution

They are solutions that contain less soluble substances

than they can dissolve.

3) Excessively saturated solution

It is the solution with more soluble substances than it

can dissolve in it. They are unstable solutions. When a

saturated solution is prepared at high temperature

and allowed to cool, excess amount precipitates over

time and the solution becomes saturated.
