DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING PRE-TEACHING TUTORIAL QUESTIONS

You will be provided feedback on your lesson plan based on the following issues. Please make sure that you carefully go over these questions considering your lesson plan. Be ready to discuss your answers with your supervisors during the tutorial before your practice teaching session.

1. Describe the class. Include specific needs of students. Are there any specific characteristics that you need to consider?

2. What are your lesson objectives/aims?

3. How will you know if you have achieved your aims?

4. What teaching methods will you use to achieve your aims? Explain briefly.

5. What resources/materials will you use? Why?

6. How does this lesson relate to students’ previous or future learning?

7. What support activities (contingency plan) have you prepared? How is it related to the lesson you will teach?

8. What challenges/difficulties do you anticipate the students (or you) might have?

The following questions are meant to guide you when you write your reflections about your practice teaching.

Please read them carefully and think about your answers to each one before starting to write your essay.

1. What do you think went well in the lesson?

2. Do you think that students have learnt? What have you taught them? How do you know?

3. Were there any unexpected things you had to cope with? Do you think you have coped with them successfully? Explain.

4. If you had the chance to teach this lesson again to the same group of students, what would you change?
