Safety of partcipants and spectators

Socially responsible sport must ensure the

physical safety of its partcipants and spectators.

This includes the protecton of young

partcipants from potental physical, sexual

and verbal abuse

Independence of playing outcomes

Sports require policies to ensure that the outcomes of the field of play are not

compromised by non-playing interests, such as

those associated with gambling

Transparency of governance

Sport is notoriously politcal, and sport

organisatons have a history of providing

employment for former players. The

mechanisms of such employment need to be

overt and the governance processes in the

organisaton should be transparent .

Pathways for playing

• Sports have a responsibility to provide pathways for development and actvity

including junior and senior sport programmes

as well as modified versions
