Please note that:

(i) the working language of the Planning Group will be English;

(ii) considering the EPG experts estimated workload (10 to 20% of their working time), the candidates shall demonstrate flexibility and availability.

ELIGIBILITY

The selection process is intended to recognize dedicated experts who have sufficient skills, knowledge, and expertise regarding the key objectives of the Decade. Their skills and expertise should cover: (i) intergovernmental processes and coordination; (ii) the ocean aspects of sustainable development; (iii) the ocean science as outlined in the Decade strategy; (iv) the science-policy/decision/user interface; (v) capacity-building, training and technology transfer, and education; (vi) development of large programmes/projects.

SELECTION PROCESS

A Selection Panel, composed of the IOC elected Officers, will select the Executive Planning Group experts.

The Selection Panel will ensure that the proposed members have the skills and knowledge, are ready to commit time and are able to undertake the work outlined in the terms of reference (attached to this form).

Consideration will be given to gender, age and regional balance (balancing developed and developing Member States interests), with the objectives of balancing knowledge and experience with new ideas and maintaining representativeness while maximizing overall effectiveness.

The selection process will be guided by the Planning Group Terms of Reference.
