The screening and management guidelines for metabolic problemsinPCOSarestilllacking.Datafromdifferentpopulations ofyoungPCOSwomenwillclarifythisissue.Microalbuminuriain PCOSwomeninnormalrangebutabovetheaveragefornormal population is of great interest due to known association with cardiovascular and metabolic comorbidities. This study repre-sented here states that spot urine samples are also useful for screeningPCOSwomen.Moreover,whetherscreeningPCOScases
withtheconventionalthresholdformicroalbuminuria(uACR3.5– 35mg/mmol)estimatedforusein patientswithhigherrisk for nephropathy, especially diabeticsubjects,is appropriateawaits furtherdata.TheactualcardiovascularriskofPCOSwomenwillbe clarifiedin large population based studies but untilthen these youngwomenwouldbebetterscreenedformetabolicproblemsto avoidlong-termconsequencesofthedisease.
