INTRODUCTION
1.1 Presentation
This chapter presents the background and the motivation of the study followed by the aim of the research. Next, the questions to be answered are going to be stated. This chapter also includes the limitation of the study and the definition of terms.
1.2 Background of the study
During the last few decades, the world has witnessed rapid changes in terms of education, communication, business, politics, tourism and all other fields of life. In this ‘fast’ global village, people travel more frequently from a country to another for many different purposes. Moving from a country to another means experiencing new cultures and new languages. Being successful in the new medium that the one moves to depends on the ability to communicate effectively with the target people in the target country. This is the reason why most internationally successful people share the fact that they speak two or more languages. Therefore, foreign language teaching and learning has been the focus of most of the governments, private sector firms, as well as individuals.
