Dr. Sevki Kiralp
Sevki Kiralp was born in 1986 in Famagusta in Cyprus. He completed his primary education in 1997 in Canbulat Primary School. In 1997-2003, he completed his elementary education and high school education at Famagusta Turkish Maarif College. In 2003, he started his university career at the department of Modern Greek Language and Literature at Ankara University in Turkey. He completed his degree in 2007. In 2007-2008, he attended to a Greek language course for the academic level at Athens University in Greece. In 2008, he started his MA studies at the department of International Relations at Keele University in United Kingdom. In 2009, he completed his MA course and examined the role of Cypriot Communism on the Cyprus Question, focused on the period of time commencing in 1926 and terminating in 2004. In 2010 he started his PhD studies on Politics and International Relations at Keele University. He completed his PhD studies in 2014 and became an expert on Nationalism, ethnic conflicts and the Cyprus Question. In his PhD thesis, he examined the time period 1967-1974 based on the nationalism policies of Cypriot leader Makarios. In 2012- 2014, he taught Greek and History at Near East University. He is currently teaching Politics and History at Near East University. Apart from his academic studies, Kiralp has translated books from Turkish to Greek and from Greek to Turkish.
