Amacı / Purpose Bu dersin amacı öğrencilerin; yaşamın evrimi, omurgalı fosillerin genel özellikleri, fosilleşme koşulları, jeolojik devirler sürecinde omurgalı gruplar arasındaki evrimsel bağıntıların kurulabilmesi, sınıflandırılmaları, çalışma ve arama yöntemleri, stratigrafik ve paleocoğrafik dağılımları, Türkiye’de ve Dünya’daki önemli karakteristik fosil formları, bulgu yerleri, yaşlandırılması, paleoekolojisi ve toplu yokoluşları hakkında bilgi sahibi olmalarını sağlamaktır.
The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge about the evolution of life, general features of vertebrate fossils, fossilization conditions, in the process of geological eras evolutionary links to be established between vertebrate groups, classification of vertebrate fossils, search and working methods, stratigraphic and palaeogeographic distributions, an important characteristic fossils from in Turkey and in the world, dating of fossils, its palaeoecology and mass extinction.
İçeriği / Content Paleontolojinin giriş ve tarihçesi; Fosillerin tanımı ve önemi; Plaka tektoniğinde fosillerin önemi; Omurgalı fosillerin bulunduğu ortamlar ve fosilleşme şekilleri; Omurgalıların Fosilleşen kısımları; Omurgalı fosilleri arama ve çalışma yöntemleri; Omurgalıların Orijini;
Chordata ve Vertabrata’nın atasal formları; Yaşamın başlangıcına ait ilk fosiller;
Omurgalılarda çenenin evrimi, Omurgalılarda ayakların evrimi ve dişlerin evrimi; fosil adlama kuralları ve sınıflandırılması (Agnatha, Placodermi, Chondrichthyes, Osteichthyes, Amphibia, Reptilia, Aves ve Mammalia sınıflarının) genel özellikleri, sınıflandırılması, bu sınıflar arasındaki evrimsel bağıntılar ve karakteristik formlar; Türkiye’de önemli memeli fosil bulgu yerleri, bulundukları ortamlar, paleocoğrafik dağılımları ve yaşları; Jeolojik zaman sürecinde meydana gelen önemli toplu yokolumlar.
Introduction and history of palaeontology; description and importance of fossils;
importance of fossils in the plate tectonic; the environments of the vertebrate fossils and preservations of fossils; fossilization parts of vertebrates; search and working methods of the vertebrate fossils; origin of vertebrates; ancestral forms of Chordata and Vertebrata; the first fossils belong to beginning of life; evolution of jaws in vertebrates; evolution of feet and teeth in vertebrates and classification of vertebrates;
(the classes of Agnatha, Placodermi, Chondrichthyes, Osteichthyes, Amphibia, Reptilia, Aves and Mammalia), general features, classification, evolutionary relations between these classes; the characteristic forms; important fossil forms in Turkey and in the world, finding locations, their environments, palaeogeographic distributions and ages; occuring mass extinction during geologic time.
