Ayasofya ile Mavi Cami’nin arasında 19. yüzyıl İstan bul’undan kalmış son bir konak, harap halinden Türkiye Turing ve Otomobil Kurumunca kurtarılarak, sökülüp tamamiyle yeni baştan yapılmış ve 1984 İlkbaharından itibaren kapılarını iç ve dış turizme açmıştır.
Dışarısı, eski mimarisinin bütün özellikleri ile aynen ya pılan bina, içerisinde, kalorifer ve banyoları ile modern konfora kavuşturulmakla beraber, salonları ve yatak odalarında, geçen yüzyıl İstanbul’unun büyük evlerine mahsus, sükûnetli ve yumuşak bir üslûp içerisinde dö şenmiştir. Yatakları pirinç karyolalı, perdeleri ve koltuk ları kadifeden, lambalı, avizeli, bu iç ısıtan odalar, yerli ve yabancı yolcuları, bir eski zaman konukseverliği ile, daha ilk andan itibaren şefkatle sarıp sarmalar. Her biri bir rengin çeşitli tonları içerisinde döşenmiş odalar, yeşil, sarı, kahve, pembe ve mavi ışıkların din
lendirici armonileri ile kapağı açılmış, dışı bronz, içi ipek, birer eski mücevher kutusu zenginliğindedir. Bahçe, kahvaltı servisi de yapılan, çiçek scra’sı, (Yıldız
semtindeki Serasker Rıza Paşa Konağından kalmış son bir eser olarak, oradan söktürülüp buraya monte edil miş bulunan) pembe somaki mermerden ortası anıtfıs- kiyeli havuzu, yeni döküm büyük İngiliz fenerleri, çev re duvarlarını örten gülleri ve mor salkımları ile, gün düzleri cennetten bir köşedir ve özellikle geceleri, mavi likler içinde yer-yer aydınlanan bu mekân, bir peri bah çesine dönüşür, ve unutulmaz hatıralar oluşturur. Bir cephesi kesintisiz olarak Ayasofya’yı, öbür taraf pencereleri Mavi Cami’yi gören bu konağın yanıbaşın- da, klasik Türk mimarisi stilinde taş bir medrese de Ku- rumca onarılarak, «İstanbul Sanatları Çarşısı» haline sokulmuştur. 19. yüzyıldan, bir eşik atlayarak, 15-18. yüzyılların dünyasına geçivermek şansı yaşanır, Turing' in bu tesisinde.

One of the last of the old nineteenth century Istanbul mansions, situated between St. Sophia and the Blue Mos que, which had been allowed to fall into extreme neglect and disrepair, was taken over by the Turkish Touring and Automobile Association, completely gutted and rebuilt, and finally opened to visitors from both home and abroad in the spring of 1984.
The exterior of the building retains all the features of the original architecture, and the interior, while equipped with all comforts such as central heating and modern private baths, is furnished in the quiet, warm style typical of Istanbul mansions of the end of the previous century. The rooms, with their brass bedsteads, velvet curtains and upholstery, lamps and chandeliers, welcome Turkish andforeign guests with all the warmth of old-fashioned Turkish hospitality.
Each room is furnished in various shades of one predom inant colour, and displays, in a soothing harmony of green, yellow, brown, pink and blue lights, all the wealth of an old jewel box, bronze on the outside, silk within. By day the garden is a veritable paradise, with a con servatory in which breakfast and tea is served, a pool of
pink porphyry with a monumental fountain in the middle which originally stood in the garden of the Palace at Yıl dız belonging to Serasker Riza Pasha and was dismantled and re-erected here, new large cast-iron English lanterns, and roses and clusters of grapes on the surrounding walls, while at night it is transformed into a fairy garden with lights scattered here and there in the blue darkness. One side the rooms open out on to St. Sophia, on the other on to the Blue Mosque, while just beside the Konak itself stands an old medresseh in the classical Turkish style of architecture. This has been repaired and restored by the Association and converted into a «Market of Is tanbul Arts and Crafts». The visitor thus has the unique opportunity of stepping out of the nineteenth century into a 15th-18th century world.
