Özet

Çalişmanin amaci, İMKB Kurumsal Yönetim Endeksinde yer alan şirketlerin bu endekse dahil olmak için gerekli notu aldiklarini kamuya açikladiklari tarih ve he-men sonrasinda hisse senetlerinin fiyatinin olumlu olarak etkilenip etkilenmedi-ğini ampirik olarak test etmektir. Araştirmamiz, 31.10.2010 tarihi itibariyla İMKB Kurumsal Yönetim Endeksinde yer alan 28 şirketin, geçer not alarak bu endek-se dâhil olacaklarini açikladiklari tarih ve sonrasindaki beş günlük süreçte sağ-ladiklari anormal getirilerin CAPM modeli kullanilmak suretiyle tahmin edilmesi suretiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştirma sonucunda, Türkiye’de kurumsal yönetim endeksine dâhil olan şirketlerin yalnizca % 60’inin ilk bir kaç gün için yatirimcisi-na pozitif getiri sağladiği, ancak sağlayatirimcisi-nan bu getirilerin iki hisse senedi dişinda önemli boyutta bulunmadiği ve birkaç günden sonra söz konusu şirketlerin ku-rumsal yönetim endeksine dâhil olma etkisinin önemli ölçüde azaldiği anlaşilmiş-tir. Sonuç olarak, yatirimcilarin kurumsal yönetim endeksine giren şirketlere esas itibariyle ilgi göstermediği kanaatine ulaşilmiştir.

Measuring the Return Performances of

the Companies Included in ISE Corporate

Governance Index

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine whether the stock price is affected positi-vely after the company discloses that it has the minimum corporate governance rating to be included in ISE Corporate Governance Index.‪ This research is made by estimating the expected returns of the 28 companies’ stocks through CAPM Model, which are included in ISE Corporate Governance Index as of 31.10.2010. The method is to estimate 5-day expected returns of companies beginning from the date they disclosed that they had the minimum corporate governance rating.‪ The study reveals that %60 of the companies which are included in ISE Corpo-rate Governance Index provided positive return for their investors for just a few days after disclosure, but these returns are not significantly high other than 2 ex-ceptions, and the effect of the disclosure tends to be decreasing in the next few days. Finally, it has been concluded that the investors do not take into account companies’ being in ISE Corporate Governance Index, when they make their in-vestment decisions.
