摘要

Abstract

A 60-year-old man presented with a 3-month history of slowly enlarging ulceration on his lower left leg [Taiwan]. On examination, there was an ulcer on the lower left leg

measuring 5.5×7.0 cm and surrounded by erythematous patches. Skin biopsy from the edge of the cutaneous ulcer revealed necrotic tissue, granulomatous infiltration with neutrophils and lymphocytes, and septate hyphae in the dermis. Culture of skin tissue on Sabouraud's dextrose agar produced Acremonium sp. He was treated with oral itraconazole 200 mg daily for 9 weeks and the cutaneous ulcer healed gradually. At 10-month follow up, no recurrence was observed.
