We are pleased that the Eleventh International Statistics Days Conference (ISDC) was a great success. Since 1998, one of the most important events for Statistical community in Turkey has been the International Statistics Days Conference organized biennially. This conference brought together for 4 days distinguished international statistical researchers, prominent industrial practitioners, and new researchers and students to Bodrum, Turkey, to discuss new developments and methods in statistical science. We had more than 250 papers presented during the conference and around 50 papers were related to Theory and Methods.

The idea of this special issue was to gather a number of papers on various aspects of theoretical works supported mostly with applications and simulations from the present-ers of the conference. Of course, not every important topic could be included in this issue due to space limitation. We decided to focus on papers that fit the special issue, and had those selected papers go through the regular review process.

We would like to thank all who kindly contributed their papers for this issue, and we especially thank Professor N. Balakrishnan for making this special issue a reality for par-ticipants of ISDC2018 and the journal editorial assistant, Ms. Debbie Iscoe, for her kind help and co-operation with the processing and production issues.
