Gel technology has been successfully applied for production o f " “Tc solution at central type 99Mo/99mTc gel-generator in the Institute o f Nuclear Physics NNC RK in Almaty since 2002. The gel-generator column is filled with zirconium polymolybdate gel granules synthesized from neutron activated molybdenum. Molybdenum atoms here form the matrix o f gel granules, providing high content o f molybdenum in column bed. A principal advantage o f this method is a possibility to use the activated natural molybdenum with low specific activity for production o f column generator with similar size and total activity as usual chromatographic generator containing carrier-free parent isotope adsorbed at the surface o f bed particles.
Central type of "M o/99mTc gel-generator is a reliable source o f high quality " “Tc solution as a ready-to-use pharmaceutical for Almaty’s hospitals, but because o f short half-life o f " “Tc it can not be delivered to others cities o f Kazakhstan.
To provide remote regional medical centers with " “Tc, the Institute o f Nuclear Physics NNC RK has started development of technology for production o f portable "M o/"“Tc gel-generator.
This report is devoted to experimental determination o f optimal design parameters ofportable gel-generator, study o f 99mTc elution efficiency and quality control o f the product
