Sedef Yılm abaşar Otyam’s Painting Exhibition

Eski Mısır’da tanrısallaştırılan, ortaçağda uğursuz­ luğundan korkulan ve binyıllardır insanoğluna en yakın hayvan olan kedi, birçok sanat eserine te­ ma seçilmiştir. Üzerine öyküler,

şiirler yazılan kediler, ressamla­ rın tuvallerine de sık sık girmiş­ tir, usulcacık...

Annesi seramikçi, babası mi­ mar, eşi de müzisyen olan ve çocukluğundan itibaren sanat ortamlarında büyüyen stilist Se­ def Yılmabaşar Otyam da ilk re­ sim denemlerinde çok sevdiği kedileri tema seçmiş kendine. Sanatçının “Kedici” adını verdiği bu ilk sergisi, bir zamanlar öğ­ renim gördüğü Özel Işık Lisesi

Sanat Galerisi’nde 14 Nisan’da açılıyor. 4 Mayıs’a kadar sürecek olan serginin geliri de maddi ola­ nakları olmayan yetenekli öğrencilere burs olarak kullanılacak.

Worshipped as a god in ancient Egypt and feared as a bringer o f misfortune in mediaeval times, the cat has been one o f the animals closest to hum an beings f o r thousands o f years. It has been the theme o f m any works o f art, and the su bject o f stories a n d poem s. It has trodden quietly in to the canvases o f many painters.

The daughter o f a ceramic artist moth­ er and architect father; and the wife o f a m u s ic ia n , Y ılm a b a ş a r has been immersed in art since her childhood. A fa s h io n designer by profession, this e x h ib ition marks her firs t fo ra y in to painting. Her theme is cats, which are one o f her great loves. Entitled Cat Per­ son, the e x h ib itio n opens at the a rt gallery o f Özel Işık High School where Yılmabaşar was at school. The exhibition continues until 4 May, and the proceeds will be used to provide scholarships to children o f ability fro m low incom e families.
