Medical Center nurses physical activity and sleep quality correlation
The Relationship Between Physical Activity and Sleep Quality Among Nurses in a Medical Center
Abstract
Nurses in this study was to understand the physical activity
associated with sleep quality and its influencing factors, poor sleep quality nursing staff is a existing problem, and increased physical activity can improve sleep and improve sleep quality. A quantitative cross-sectional design, Physical Activity Scale for the past year (TASPA), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire (PSQI), a medical center in Taipei City 814 nursing staff survey research data by frequency distribution , percentage, mean, standard deviation presents descriptive statistics, independent sample t test, one factor analysis of variance, Pearson correlation, multi-level analysis,
hierarchical regression analysis and inferential statistics.
The results showed:
1, the subjects of physical activity an average of 17067.6 MET-min- wk, the absolute amount of physical activity mean 1591.1 Kcal / day.
Classification of physical activity to work the maximum amount of physical activity, an average of 8473.4 MET-min-wk, low physical activity leisure activities, an average of 426.5 MET-min-wk.
The subjects of the sleep quality score ranged from 0 to 18 points, an average of 7.39 points, good sleep quality accounted for 33.4%, poor sleep quality accounted for 66.6%.
Third, physical activity because of having children, of different marital status, title, work unit, shift, now do not work there were significant differences in the pressure situation of the larger study, perceived health status were worse, the greater amount of physical activity .
Fourth, quality of sleep because of education, job title, shift, the present work do not differ significantly different, the older the subjects, the work of more senior years, the older the youngest child, perceived health, the more pressure situation small, the better the quality of sleep.
Fifth, study of physical activity, the absolute amount of physical activity and sleep quality scores were significantly positively correlated. Classification of physical activity physical activity of work, the higher the light physical activity, sleep quality is worse.
6, the subjects sector groups, individuals of different groups in sleep quality was no significant difference.
VII, title, perceived health status, stress, job physical activity, traffic volume and physical activity in mild physical activity and other variables, quality of sleep 30% of the total variance.
According to results of this study suggest that nurses should develop the habit of recreational sports law, and seek for physical and mental relaxation, hospital management should pay attention to the workload of nurses on the quality of sleep in order to work schedule, work allocation, increased human resources, to avoid sleep problems caused by work.
