Assist. Prof. Dr. Pinar Tulay was born in Nicosia, 8

th

October 1985. She completed her high school education in Turk Maarif Koleji in Nicosia Cyprus. She graduated from University of Missouri in 2006 with double degree in Chemistry and Mathematics (B.Sc.).

In 2007, she joined the Chemical Biology Department at Imperial College for her Master’s in Research (MRes) degree in Biomedical Physical Chemistry. Her work focused on investigating the role of N- myristole enzyme in cancer. In 2009, she joined the University College London (UCL) Centre for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) team. She completed her Master’s in Science (M.Sc.) in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine in UCL. She continued her Ph.D. with the same team and her research was focused on investigating DNA repair, gene expression and chromosomal abnormalities in human oocytes and embryos. During her Ph.D., she worked as a clinical PGD specialist and she was involved in developing and optimising PGD protocols for inherited cancer predisposition and for translocation carriers.

After completing her Ph.D., in 2013 Assist. Prof. Dr. Tulay joined the Bahceci IVF Centre as a genetics specialist. Her research was focused on investigating human embryos obtained from translocation carriers. Assist. Prof. Dr. Tulay has joined the Medical Genetics Department, Faculty of Medicine at Near East University in May 2014.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Tulay is a member of international societies of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis

International Society (PGDIS) and European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
