She was born in 1981 in Kyrenia, North Cyprus. After completing her high school education in 19 Mayıs TMK in Kyrenia, she continued her undergraduate studies in the Department of Civil Engineering, in Eastern Mediterranean University. She obtained her BSc. degree in Civil Engineering in 2002 as the valedictorian, with a cumulative grade point average of 4.00/4.00. Later in 2003, she was awarded with the graduate studies scholarship for the foreign students by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, Spain, for her doctorate studies in the School of Civil Engineering of Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain. Her doctoral thesis focused on concrete durability, on sulfate attack problem in concrete. She carried out extensive experimental investigations on sulfate-induced degradation in cementitious systems. She defended her PhD dissertation and received her doctorate degree with "sobresaliente cum laude" (summa cum laude- with highest honor) and later on she was awarded with EGIDE scholarship for post-doctoral studies. She carried out post-doctorate studies in French Atomic Energy Commission in Paris, France during the year 2007. Her post-doctorate studies included experimental investigations on the corrosion of reinforcements in concrete structures used for nuclear waste storage. She is fluent in English and Spanish, and she has intermediate level in French language. She has been working in the Department of Civil Engineering, in Near East University, since October 2007. She was assigned as Vice Chairman of Civil Engineering Department in Fall2011 and as the Deputy Chairman in the same department in Fall 2013.
