In language training communicative approach is based on the theory indicating that language is communication. Target of language teaching is to improve the FDSDFLW\ZKLFKLVFDOOHG³FRPPXQLFDWLYHVNLOO´ This proposition carries more weight when we pay regard to the developments in science, technology, art, literature and other areas, relations between cultures and societies, interaction, communication and information exchange forging ahead in dizzying speed in the first days of 21. Century in which we live. Foreign language teaching has been researched with modern methods in our country as many countries in the world as an independent science branch at primary, secondary and higher education institutions. In this study it is tried to put forward the methods that have been used in foreign language training up to now as well as what kind of development process they have got through together with the political, social and scientific changes that have been appeared in history. Communicative foreign teaching approach radically changed the understanding in this field propounding that at the end of long-termed researches in foreign language acquisition we could find a perfect foreign language acquisition method by suggesting that there may not be a valid foreign language teaching method for all the learners. In this study the four language skills and the approach that has been brought about by different methods have been tried to be materialized on the basis of German teaching as a foreign language. It is clear that important steps have been taken in recent times in Turkey in terms of foreign language teaching. But, on the other hand, the request level in secondary and higher education institutions, particularly in foreign language verbal communication has not been acquired yet. Communicative approach aims at promoting and developping the verbal communication in foreign languages in terms of suggested programs, learning and teaching activity types and educational materials. The programs in which this approach is used and course materials have contributed to overwhelm the difficulties in communications in foreign languages experienced by the students. We believe that this approach will bring about considerable contributions in terms of foreign language teaching in our country.
