1.1 Background of the Study
It is an indisputable fact that English is the dominant language of the world.
English is now the official means of communication for around two billion people in over 75 nations throughout the globe. In order to compete with scientific, technological and academic advancements, it is essential to be proficient in the English language.
According to the British Council, within a decade speakers of English as a second language will outnumber those who speak it as a first language. As a consequence, competent teachers of the English language are in constant demand as are English- language schools. Linguists are constantly searching for new methodologies in English language teaching to make language learning easier and more enjoyable.
